One question that will probably clear up the answer in my mind is - will the defense of the minions come directly from noor, or from the heroes that they are protecting?

I could be mistaken, but the fact that defense is not part of the minion statistics would imply that the defensive stat is from the hero that holds the minion. So raising the defense with emblems just raises the defense of Noor, while the damage gets taken off from the minion. Likewise, one of her minions guarding someone else will use its own defense stat, with the first damage taken from the minion. I.e. the damage calculation is done on the hero stats, but the minion’s health gets reduced first.

It’s as @Quinn3 says. The minions get their defense from their owner, not from their caster.

I tested this in a raid battle today and the damage was clearly based on the owner’s defense.
