:mage: Tower Of Styx Overview!!

Gameplay

Tower of Styx is a new event which is similar to Ninja Tower or Tower of Magic, so it has got two questlines:

  • The normal questline has got 25 floors.
  • The impossible questline has got only 25 floors, which you can start after the you have completed the normal questline.
  • In this Tower you need to “climb” down instead of up.
  • The overall goal is to “climb” as low as you can in the Tower of Styx
  • Each Floor must be completed before progressing to the next one
  • Floors cannot currently be replayed once completed
  • Each Floor is similar to an event Stage, and features monsters and Bosses
  • Tower of Styx Floors inclides a new gameplay mechanic, Soul Grasp and Soul Loan.
    • Soul Graps:
      • It is a special tile, which will target one of your hero, and start to count down from 3.
      • If you manage to match it in 3 turns, then it boosts the health of the targeted hero.
        • The HP boost what it gives depends on how much turn left from it to explode.
        • If you match it instantly, then it boosts health with about 12% of the target’s max health.
        • If there is only 2 turn left from exploding, then it boosts helath with about 24% of the target’s max health.
        • If there is only 1 turn left from exploding, then it boosts helath with about 35% of the target’s max health.
      • If countdown reaches 0 and it explodes, then it damages your hero.
        • In early in Normal difficulty I saw about 700-800 damage / Soul Graps explosion.
        • At the end of Normal difficuly it goes up to 900 - 1000 damage.
        • In Impossible I saw 1100 - 1200 damage in all floors.
      • There can be more than one Soul Grasp on the board, and each of them is targeting a different hero.
      • If the targeted hero dies before the Soul Grasp explodes, then the Soul Grasp stays on the board, but it will have no effect on the hero as it is already defeated.
    • Soul Loan:
      • During the Tower of Styx quest the Souls of 4 hero classes are disabled from use all the time.
      • The disabled hero classes are changing afer every 5 floors.
  • Every 5 Floors completed on both questlines, you are offered a choice of a Blessings, where you cna choose from three options; the selected Blessings remain active for the rest of the Tower of Styx event, for all of your Heroes on your Roster; See the offered Blessings bellow.
  • Floors currently have a timer, similar to Challenge Event Stages; likewise, the current scoring appears to use the Challenge Event logic;
  • There’s a Leaderboard, also similar to the Challenge Events; again, one notable difference about the Leaderboard is that it indicates Highest Floor for each player in addition to a Score.
    • The difference from Ninja Tower is the Tower is marked completed right after you have completed the Normal questline.
    • You can improve your score further if you complete the Impossible questline.
  • Rewards are currently structured like a Challenge Event, in that they are based on brackets of a certain number of players;
    • The rewards and the bracklets are almost identical as the rewards of the Ninja Tower and Tower of Magic
  • Similarly to Ninja Tower and Tower of Magic we have deadly chamber effects.
    • Toxic Vapor: The battles takes place in a Deadly Chamber that is filled with toxic vapor.
      Toxic Vapor deals X damage to all heroes every 3 turns.
    • Fragile Floor: The battles takes place in a Deadly Chamber that has fragile floor.
      The number of items that you can bring into battle is Y less than normally per item. You can always bring at least 1 item.
    • Erratic Time: The battles takes place in a Deadly Chamber where time behaves erratically.
      All status effects cast by Heroes are Z turn(s) shorter than normally. They will always last at least 1 turn.
    • Unnerving Resilience which consist of 3 effects:
      • The first two is applied from Impossible 1, the third is from 16.
      • Unwaving Defense: Status effects that reduce defense are -50% less effective against all enemies.
      • Strong Mind: All bosses have 33% chance to resist status ailments that effect mana or prevent the use of Special Skills.
      • Elemental Resistance: Having multiple Heroes of the same element in your Team reduces the damage that enemies take from that element (-10% for each hero

Soul Loans

During the Tower of Styx quest the Souls of 4 hero classes are disabled from use all the time.
The disabled hero classes are changing after every 5 floors, and it is different in every occurence of the event.

:zap: Flags/ Energy!!

  • Tower of Styx uses its own Flag Energy Currency. Separate from World Energy etc…
  • You have a limit of 10 flags
  • Flags are regenerated once per day & completely refills your flags
  • There is also a new “flask” which has been added called the “Small Tower Energy Flask”, which refills 5 energy.

:angel: Magic Blessings

  • Rewarded on completing every second stage
  • Blessings are fixed & are the same for everyone (i.e. player A gets x,y&z blessing at stage 3. So does player B, Player C etc…)
  • Blessings apply to ALL heroes in your roster for that specific event.
    • They do NOT apply outside the Tower Of Magic Event

:skull_and_crossbones: Deadly Chamber Effects.

  • There are three Deadly Chamber Effects in the Tower of Magic:
    • Toxic Vapor - All heroes take ‘x’ damage every ‘y’ turns
    • Fragile Floor - The number of battle items you take are reduced by ‘x’. Cannot be less than 1
    • Erratic Time - All Status Effect Durations are reduced by ‘x’ turns.
  • Table below has more details of the deadly chamber effects & how they increase in severity though the Tower Event.
    On Impossible Questline a new kind of Deadly Chamber Effect is included called Unnerving Resilience, which consist of 4 type of sub-effects, which are added during your progress on Impossible Questline:
  • Strong Mind:
    • All bosses have a 33% chance to resist status ailments that affect mana or prevent use of Special Skill.
  • Elemental Resistance:
    • Having multiple Heroes of the same element in your Team reduces the damage that enemies take from that element (-10% for each Hero of the same element).
  • Unwavering Defense
    • Status ailments that reduce defense are -50% less effective against all enemies.
  • Absolute Resolve
    • Enemy damage taken is reduced every time you use a Special Skill or a Battle Item. The damage taken reduction resets at the start of your turn.

The Strong Mind and Unwavering Defense are added starting from Floor 1.
The Elemental Resistance is added starting from Floor 16.
The Absolute Resolve is added starting from Floor 31.

:rotating_light: Progression Reward – Tower Chest

A “Tower Chest” is awarded every 5 floors completed. It also creates a “Completion” reward of sorts where the 5th and Final Tower Chest will only be available on completing all 25 Normal levels.

I had 500+ coins saved up, so did my pulls. Was not expecting much (my luck felt sour, after my 2 Atlantis pulls ended up being Gill-Ra and Belith…)

Pull 1: Graymane. my 1000th one by now

Pull 2: another Belith, whoopie, she can join her sister being fed

Pull 3: Karil. sigh. I need my morning coffee

Pull 4: Brontes, ah now this is better, at least a new hero

With 127 ETT, styx troops I want are green or purple, the colors without magic troops.
The result is 2 red, 1 blue. seriously, super awful ■■■■■■ portal.

Oh, I pulled 11 with tower coins I saved.
All S1 heroes. sigh.

Before starting the event, I wanted to make sure if I got it right:
There is no restriction in how often I can use a specific hero (as in the Tavern), or that a hero can be blocked because of something like the “oni-things” from ninja tower?

I have just maxed Garnet, now RNG gives me two more red to work on. Very nice pulls, including all 3 and 4* as well (60 pulls).

Guess I will skip my summon for new heroes this round… Wanna wait for one more cycle (3 month) to see how they plan to release the 3 remaining 5*.

Im saving my pulls for the next Styx. Charon is a must have.
About the tower itself though, there are no curses Besides the “class restriction”?
We can start with 5* without being scared of losin a hero right?

No curses to kill heroes, but they they damage your heroes a lot so make sure to have healers/over-healers if you can. Minions too, but otherwise I like it like this, much better.
I did the first 10 floors easily. Mono green 5* team for the last 5
(Ratatoskr / Evelyn / Telluria / Lianna / Kingston)

I made the same mistake I always do on the first few floors and went with “weak teams”, I always think it’s like Tavern etc where you can only use them once, even though I know I can… so I try start with 3* and 4* with no emblems haha… I didn’t take a healer on a few and almost died so, lesson learned

Will wait on summons (or maybe a couple for the 3* + 4*)

Yes, it is bit misleading.
Earlier in Gargoyles event / Costume Chamber (Secondary Costumes) they just announced the released ones. I do not know why they can not do it here.

Maybe we need to ask @Petri or somebody from the staff about it? To be honest I didn’t notice it before I made the pull. I’ve got 5* so definitely I’m not complaining, but somebody can put the complaint to CS for that.
