Li Xiu or Poseidon - who gets the orbs?

OK, don’t think I’m nuts. I have Onatel at 3^70 waiting on darts, and I plan to ascend her immediately and take her to 4^80 at that point. (My first maxed 5-star. Yay!) Right now, I have 4 darts, so I’m anticipating this happening in the late June/early July range (two more Shiloh Deserts). Until then, my yellow project has been my shiny new Poseidon, who is currently at about 2^8. Today, I pulled Li Xiu.

My class depth in fighters is bad, with my current best options being Valen+13 and Gato 3^50; I started working on Poseidon because at 2^60, he would be my second-best fighter option, at worst. But my monk depth is also terrible, with my best options being Bane+9 and Friar Tuck 3^50. I plan to take Poseidon to 2^60 regardless. I won’t have the orbs to ascend him by that time - I currently have 5, and I’m holding 4 of those for Onatel - so I’ll start on Li Xiu then. My question is, once I collect 3 more orbs, do I ascend Poseidon and go to 3^70 (where he’ll be stuck for a LONG time while I collect more darts), or do I take Li Xiu to 3^60, then use the orbs to ascend her to 4^70?

I would normally say Li Xiu, she’s going to be better at 4/70, but since her role is pretty much the same as Onatel’s, who you’re doing first. I’d go with Posiedon. You’ll need someone to kill those heroes Onatel has slowed down.

Based purely on emotion, I vote Poseidon. Li Xiu was my second 4* hero ever and I used her for a long time but she was never that fun to play with. I have maxed 7 yellows and still haven’t given her orbs yet. At least you’ll have Poseidon at 3-70 and ready to go when you get your next set of darts, get that level grinding done up front.
