How can you tell if your hero has a special skill?
I just had one hero gain her special skill, do I have others???
How do you know which hero has a special skill and how do I access the abilities when in combat?
Can someone help me?

Open your hero roster, and click on any of your heroes to view their card.
This includes their stats. At the bottom, it says “Special Skill.”
I’ll use my friend Gunnar as an example:
His special skill is “Spirit Link,” which shares damage across his allies and buffs his teams defense.
To use this skill in combat, I need to match blue shields first, because Gunnar is a blue hero (ice element). Because his special is SLOW, that means I need to match 12 blue shields total to charge his special.
Note that matched shields that don’t hit the enemies, will charge the special skill twice as fast; so for Gunnar, 6 blue shields that don’t hit the enemy would also charge his skill.
Once he’s charged, tap his hero portrait at the bottom of the board to use his skill. You’ll notice his portrait will flash when he’s ready to use his special skill.
All heroes have a special skill. @DaveCozy explained it well.
@DragonMother67 If you want to know the percentages of currently applied buffs or debuffs, hold a heroes or enemies picture and the info will come up. @DaveCozy covered how to access specials and the nitty gritty on that end pretty well.
I just want to know how can you tell if your hero has special abilities.
I don’t know if my hero’s can level up to their higher potential.
I just found out about one and that was by accident.
All heroes have special skills.
Refer to the gunner card above. His special skill is Spirit Link. It is described in the text box. Am I leveled hero has a special skill at 1/8. It can be increased up to 8/8 by leveling. If you refer to the card, it says 8/8 and all heroes get +63% defense. At lower levels, that percentage is less.
Now, there is something else called talents. Once a hero is fully ascended, you can use emblems to give them talents. Again, refer to the gunner card. His ascension is all the way to the top (three tiers for a 3* hero) and he’s fully leveled to level 50. Additionally, his special skill is 8/8. At this point, the talent tree is active. Above the ascension tiers, you see the numeral 20. That means he has been ascended beyond max to achieve additional talents. Note these are “talents” and not “special skills,” but may be causing you confusion.
I hope this makes sense.
@DragonMother67 In your roster section, click on the hero you want to look at and at the bottom of the card that comes up, it will say current level over 8. As level 8 is the maximum for your special.
The little chevron looking things in the mid-bottom right represents tiers that can be used to make your hero more powerful. Mind you for certain levels you are gonna need certain materials and a certain amount of food.
Take for example, Sumitomo. To get his final ascension level, you need 442,000 food, 1 compass, 4 hidden blades, and 1 pair of fine gloves and 3 chainmail shirts. Thing is the only material out of the 4 different items that is farmable is the chainmail shirts. The other three you have to rely on chest drops, titan kill rewards, alliance war wins for those other three to drop.
Ascending a hero gives an automatic special skill increase. If you max out before reaching the final tier (will most likely happen with 4 stars and 5 stars) then the special will not go higher than 8. I hope that explained everything.
