July 2018: Am I crazy or have the boards been a little extra bad lately?

The fact that you’re replying to a post that’s a year old should give you a moment’s pause on that theory. Because someone clearly felt the same way a year ago, back when you were feeling just fine about the tiles.

There’s a reason why I suggest that people who think the tile engine is biased should actually count tiles. Confirmation bias is a real thing, and everyone really does get runs of bad boards from time to time.

Every time someone has actually counted tiles, the answer has been the same: random distribution. I encourage you to do the same, if you don’t believe the answers others have produced. If you need a spreadsheet to do the counting in, I can provide you with one that you can copy and use.
