Jean-François – 5* Fire/ Red - February 2020 HOTM (Hero of the Month)

I really want to contest that. If there was a poll on Feb 28 asking all owners of JF if they would trade in JF for GM or not, I want to see what general public has to say

This message wont make me popular and im sure they have good intentions but beta should just be about fixing glitches then letting sg release a hero however they see fit.
We are at a place where the strongest fire hero was released 2yrs ago. On multiple occasions we have seen sg “over nerf” yet beta continue to recommend nerfs on anything strong. Its time to let the game grow and evolve not reach its peak years ago and become stale.
Once again im sure there are good intention but its pretty clear the feedback system isnt working.

On the “Not the same but different” point in this.

The point of having different heroes is that you have different combinations of skills & builds… JF was never meant to be the same as GM. The fact that he’s similar is a bonus to any player who didn’t get GM in his initial release or the subsequent Atlantis Featuring…

You want to contest my opinion?

Also Why would the poll be about if people would trade in their GM? I’m saying (and have been saying):

  1. Players who don’t have GM will be happy with JF. He’s similar in nature & burniness
  2. Players who DO have GM will be happy to get JF too… It adds depth to war teams etc…

Just a FYI but testing heroes in Live Capacity is actually one of the things that SGG expect from their Beta Testers…

Check the most recent AMA that SGG did with the Moderators. There’s an entire section about what SGG expect from the beta testers.

So it’s Beta’s Testers fault? Not SGG for applying the “Over-Nerf”?
Does that make it the Traffic Lights fault when a driver runs a red light and runs over some kid, killing them instantly? No. The traffic light signals intent… The driver of the car is the one at fault.

For your information, SGG has told us what they view as betas role.

This thread is not about beta. Thoughts on Jean are welcome.

Yeah. I am not convinced he’s on par with GM at all. I was never convinced by the math and seeing raid videos posted so far, I’m still not convinced he’s on par.

If an owner trades in a hero for another, then that tells you something right? If they are on par why would anyone really bother trading in?

I could show you a hundred raid vidoes of me trashing GM… makes him useless then right?

But that’s your opinion… I have mine based on my experiances with swapping GM & JF in/out of teams…

You’re entitled to your opinion as I am to mine…

lol sorry didn’t mean to put you under the fire like this

I’m talking about JF when attacking not defending. Idk why forums are always so laser focused on how well a hero holds on defense. It’s been such a long time since there was an offensive red HotM since GM (and partially Zimmy). JF as an offensive powerhouse like Kingston, Seshat would have been so refreshing. But I’m not sold he’s made for that role and MJ would better attacker here

Guvnor dont talk about killing kids its overdramatic and in poor taste.
You are saying that those without gm will be happy with jf and like many posts have shown we are not happy. If you had one set of mats and had to pick between gm or jf there would not be a hesitation in anyones mind who to ascend first. (Not talking dupes).

My comments regarding what i would prefer a beta testers role to be is still my opinion irrelavent of what testers are instructed to give feedback on. I dont believe the system is working and recent hero releases concur with me.

I pulled jf but plan to save my mats until i can try for gm in atlantis or wait for s3 heros to be rolled out.

Well considering you didn’t specify… But anyway, offence or defence doesn’t change my statemetns or opinion…
In fact specifying offence actually is more in line with what I was saying with regards to GM owners will be happy as it adds a second burny burner for war depth etc…

Anyways, you got your opinion. I got mine.

I got asked if my opinion had changed and I answered. Nothing ore to it.

Over dramatic maybe. Poor taste, probably.

Doesn’t change the accuracy of it… You’re blaming the wrong person… Beta testers only advise. SGG make decisions.

Don’t have anything more to say on this topic.

Edit: I can change the analogy to if a house burns down, do you blame the firefighters for not saving it quick enough or the person who lit the fire?

That’s fair. Let’s just agree to disagree then. Not a bad hero but not a great one either IMO

@Rigs mentioned he rather save rings for GM when he returns before pulling trigger on JF, and I think the same

That could be a good way of doing it.

Just remember:

  1. GM is appearing next in may (thats 3 months away)
  2. Gm has a really really low probability of dropping compared to JF.

Just be prepared to pay the cost if you do “chase” GM when he’s next featured in atlantis… Linking to a Warning for Chasing Heroes thread:

Thanks for reminder! I usually stick to a budget, so I’m not even sure if I’ll get a JF to begin with let alone GM.

Best case scenario for me is to start churning TC20 and hope for Marjana

This is a sad version of JF. He was initially way over tuned. The way to go was 3 heroes with the same amount of burn. Sadly SGG didn’t see that as a viable option.

Here’s to hoping he receives slight compensatory buffs to some other part of his special.

I sincerely hope that you understand how transparently poor this is to use as a yardstick. JF is the same speed and durability as all top tier flanks not named GM or Kage, and there are approximately zero complaints about the reliability of Zeline or Drake.
