Dear SGG staff and moderators,
I know this day it is all about you. SO I figured out to start this topic talking about me … and leave some space, at the end, to talk about you.
I know you are happy that I will talk about me.
First, may be you need to know that I was a moderator once to one great forum. When i started that job, it had only 2 members and in one and half year, … yes 1.5 years, I managed to increase the number of users from 2 members to 300%; … and the number of modes to 50%… amazing isn’t it?
Well, it is not a secret now …
I can attribute my success in leading that forum to two main factors:
- Being honest and fair by letting the members see and understated who I’m and what I can do
- Be precise and establish clear and simple rules and guidelines.
Vualá!
This is my recipe on how to successfully moderate a forum ,… any forum… I put it here all between your hands.
To tackle the first part, about me being honest, I wrote something about me and made all the users know about it…I wrote:
My name is Dragon Wind Unicorn Rainbow Queen Of All Furry MUCKS, and I am the moderator of the Dragon Wind Unicorn YiffYiff forum/bboard/RPG/ blah blah/jargon jargon and part-time mod on *chan. I may weigh 375 pounds in real life and live in a room full of rubbish and cat turds, but my character is a Minyun Hentai Teen Dragon black belt samurai transsexual pornstar in +50 armor and she is a merciful destroyer of all trolls except those who beg for mercy.
As per the second part of being precise and establish clear and simple rules and guidelines, I did my best to keep them simple… very simple. I know that lengthy text on the guidelines are boring and confusing and some users may use those lengthy texts on the rules and guidelines to try and find usual and unusual means to circumvent them to their own benefits and screw the forum, … thus, making the moderation of the forum hard.
So, here they are …
And to make the members of the forum know I’m serious about them adhering to those guidelines , I added the following …
Anyhow, enough about me … and now let’s talk about you!
Dear SGG staff and Moderators, thank you … thank you for not being like me and for not allowing the forum to be as the one I mentioned above.
We, as members, have all benefited from the clarity and wisdom you have graced us with. Not to mention all the good answers and info on what’s going on around here.
The game is what it is right now because of you … and the remaining 95% of randomness we happily accepted in our lives.
Thank you …
Thanks to me too.
P.S.
Dear @Petri , there was some serious discussion about opening an Off-Topic section in the forum and I think you are looking for a moderator … Did you see my vast experience I demonstrated above?
