Issue with moving my Android user to IOS

I am soon retiring my (old) Android device and I want to move my account to my iPad. There is functionality to do this in the App, so I create a code in my Android device and entered that code in my iPad. I then get the error that both devices are not connected to the same wifi. The problem is that I am sure they are connected to the same wifi. Can anyone help me?
