Is Rush War worth the Headache?

I’m just putting it out there, who if any at all is finding VF war a major painpoint with the the double revives, taunt and Alfrike tanks ? Don’t get me wrong this isn’t another rant or complain thread bashing heroes that I’m both able and unable to overcome any given Rush war for the sake of trying . On the contrary, war is still the best part of the game for me but how on earth do you get over teams like these when you have to face a multitude of them ever VF war ? For better wording what’s your line up that you would use to beat something like this or similar!?

My line-up in this case would be a clear-cut ”let’s leave this one to the big boys in my alliance and look elsewhere for a better-suited opponent”
Not sure I’m helping there. Please take into account that my best slow hero for now is C. Colen.

Imagine facing 20 out of 30 of something similar!!! Yah feel my pain?

Proteus and alfrike or 2 protii or proteus and onatel. These to shut down alfrike and the revivers. Gulli to heal. A couple of direct alfrike counters such as lord loki, a taunter, emilio, malosi, etc

Definitely a bunch of mana control heroes, silence, dispellers, ailment protection, etc. Also a remember that is better to flee before the revive happen if you have killed one or two already

I’d take this team and pray. 3 to potentially stop Alf, mana stoppers for the revivers, cleanser and a health boost/reviver. The problem with rush is, you can plan all you like but rush wars is still a complete coin flip. No strategy, no skill involved with board manipulation. Comes down to having two matches early to get the heroes charged that you need. That’s it. I hate VF wars

Or maybe swap Malosi for Poseidon for a bigger punch on the hit. Either or

Not true. Strategy is still very much required, although luck typically plays a larger part than usual.

I couldnt have won this match without both strategy and luck

Yea there was some over exaggeration with the “no” part but nonetheless you have so much less time to work anything. All it takes is for Alf to fire once before you have anyone charged and it’s basically over. I’ve recovered maybe a handful of times after her firing and that takes luck for her to not hit the cleanser.

Rush is unforgiving at times but I genuinely contest the “no skill” part. I’m 11/12 for 1 shots this Rush war pass. Did I get godlike boards 11 times? Nope…no I did not. I took more than 1 Alfrike to the face.

This was a particularly nasty team I took out in the last war. It’s scary to look at it but build the right team and you can take them out.

Sure it can all go wrong quickly but your opponents have to get through your defences as well. Rush is pretty low scoring in wars for good reason.

But I’m very much in the minority in my alliance for really liking Rush wars. It’s like speed chess to me…think fast, make good moves.

So I’m another in the likes rush war minority ( mind you I always liked healing aid too)

I enjoy the challenge of adapting my tile match strategy etc to horizontal instead of vertical and more wing matches etc. Doesn’t always work by any means but nothing does.

I don’t play at top level so don’t see full boards like that with so many alfrikes. But I also don’t have the roster depth myself to be there. I think if you want to play at the top level it’s something where you need to find enough counters within your roster to use against it. I do compete on a level though which is comparable to strength of my roster ( 10 to 15 maxed 5s and an awful lot of 4s)

What line up did you use to beat it ?

Any war is worth the headache.

And for the first time ever, I had a rush war battle that timed out. Yes, timed out. Had to get rid of Lidenbrock’s overheal HP. Very hard to do when very few tiles show up to feed your mana bar, while Onatel sucks away at the mana you are gaining.

But yes, any war is worth the headache.

I go pure mono as I have 6 teams that all fire in 6 tiles. I just find that the majority of the time you can get 6 tiles. Then the teams just slay them

I went mono Red so I had a chance to get rid of the ressers with tiles.

Mono is super risky I get it but if you can get all of them firing in 6 tiles well…as my buddy @gregschen said in our chat “It’s as good as any other strategy in this sh!tshow” :joy:

I would go 2-2-1 Red-yelllow-Proteus. It really is about mana control. include both a red and yellow healer. Some folks attack rush with rainbow, but with Afrike, I take at least two yellow heroes. O f course, I don’t have Afrike. I assume the minute I did she would be nerfed which was my fate with Telly.

Fast wars are a headache for EVERYONE. Nothing much to do but hope for the best with the heroes you got.

my no. 1 team in Rush is Proteus, Guardian Gazelle, Chakkoszrot, C. Vivica/ Gullinbursti, and Merlin. the fourth position flexes depending on whether or not i need a dispel or the overheal more, although i’m finding lately that i’m using C. Vivica more often in that spot regardless of whether the dispel is needed because that defense down makes a dancing Chak hit like a freight train. i save this team for the toughest teams our opponent is fielding, which can either be Alfrike or Xnolphod tanks.

some people will say that Proteus and Merlin don’t work well together, but au contraire, Merlin can stop Alfrike (or anyone else) if she charges before Proteus can stop her mana gain. who i decide to target with my mana control depends on what the board looks like in terms of follow-up moves, but i usually (counterintuitively) avoid targeting MN or Prof. Lidenbrock until i absolutely have to because i don’t want that mana control to go to waste–been burned too many times by Withstand and Manashield.

since my darks would charge at the same time, i’d probably fire Proteus on the right side and hope MN doesn’t Withstand Merlin; if MN Withstands, at least she doesn’t overheal like Heimdall does. Chak makes Black Knight useless, and if the Taunters beat me to the punch, C. Vivica can dispel.

Swap Black Knight for Lidenbrock, and you’re in for even more trouble…

VF wars are a bit broken, yeah.

I can’t stand Rush Wars. They are all about opening boards and luck more so than anything else. I would rather have good old fashioned Field Aid. I hope SG does away with them very soon.

Personally, rush war is my favorite. I love the opportunity to use a variety of heroes I otherwise wouldn’t use.
