I need some advice with roster space

Hi guys, I’ve gotten myself in a position where I have no roster space and previously I’ve been able to feed away dupe heroes or still train my heroes with 1 or 2 free slots. But I’ve reached a point where I have about 170 dupe 5* heroes and about 20 slots overfull and now even the next Soul Exchange can’t save me (even if I sacrifice 20 heroes my roster is still full). I guess I won’t be able to do any pulls in the new Gargoyle Summon until I’ve had at least 2 Soul Exchanges, because it will set me back even more. I thought these were my options but let me know if you have a better suggestion?

• Spend ~$80 to open up at least 35 slots
• Feed away ~20 dupe 5* heroes and then spend a minimum to just open up 15 slots
• Maybe do a blend of the above 2 and feed away 10 dupe 5* and spend ~$55 to open up 25 slots
• Feed away some maxed 3* or 4* heroes in replacement of some 5* in the option above (I do use them all but I guess I can replace them one day)
• Wait until SE (just keep a full roster and not do any training until then) and then spend a minimum to just open up 15 slots when that time comes

Also even though this is extremely frustrating for me, I understand I put myself in this situation and it’s totally my fault - I’m just genuinely a bit stuck on what I should do. Thanks for any advice!

I think that you have two more “realistic” options - feeding away some maxed 3* and 4* or waiting until SE arrives (perhaps getting the cheap gem deals from the challenge event this week especially for slots)?

I think I’d start with considering your maxed 3* first.

I have fed away all but 1 original S1 5* and kept at least 2 dupes of the event, costume and S3/4/5 5* plus only 1 copy of each 3/4* (except treevil) it now runs me 850 gems for 5 slots and im sitting at

In a similar boat and I just keep feeding away the duplicates I know I’ll never level…btbh kind of tired of pulling in the portals and never getting the one I actually want…

My advice is this. Feed away not just 20, but 30 of the dupes. Look. Assuming no changes to frequency of SE or amount of exchanges, having 140 dupes without ever pulling another dupe will last you 7 SEs - 1 year and 9 month - of doing a 20 soul exchange every SE. I assume you will continue pulling, and thus you will get more dupes in the mean time.

The next question is, realistically, how long do you see yourself playing this game? While I don’t think the game will die, I don’t think much of the current player base will still be around in 2 years time. The nature of online games, and especially mobile games is that the players are entertained and involved for a time - my guess is the average is under 1 year - but then move on to something else.

I think between how long between SEs, your new pulls that will bring new dupes, and your expectation of how long you will play, feeding 30 heroes right now will not affect you at all, neither now nor in the long run. Or at least will only have the positive effect of making your playing experience easier.

@L33tVortex12596 Did you mean you fed away all but 1 original S5* in the SE or you actually fed them to other heroes? Yeah I literally fed away almost all my dupes too (only kept the ones where I really use 2) and even non-dupes that I originally wanted to keep but told myself I’ll replace one day when I actually have time to level them. It’s also reassuring to know that others are in this boat too so thanks for sharing your experience!

@ProfessorPenguin Thank you for your advice too. I never thought about it that way but knowing it will last me almost 2 years worth of SEs is an eye opener. The only thing to say to that is, although I’ve gone pretty hard (“whale-like”) over the last 6 months or so, having so many heroes queued up I no longer have interest in pulling in S1-4 and most events, mainly just interested in Gargoyles, Challenge Festival and potentially any new ones yet to come - so my 5* pulls will be decreased significantly and I’m certain I won’t be landing 15-20 HoTMs every month moving forward.

In terms of how long I plan to play this game, this might sound ridiculous but I plan to play this for life (or as long as the game still exists) - it’s something I’m passionate about and I invest quite a lot time and energy into daily, it takes me away from the daily stresses in my life. I even had to create an alt account so I had something else to work on when I’ve done everything on my main.

I suppose it depends on your play style and what you focus on in the game.
But personally I would hate to think about feeding away fully levelled heroes….
And if you are going to make pulls in the volume you are talking about, you are never going to have enough roster space anyhow given the speed rate of “new” releases.
Can I also ask you how quickly you are able to fully level your new 5* heroes, because it would take me some considerable time to max those numbers out. And by that time some of them would be redundant due to the current power creep.
So that said my advice would be:

• lose 20 x dupe 5* heroes in SE at the end of this month
• buy the very cheap gem offers that become available to get additional roster space (that should keep costs down )
• review your 3 and 4 roster and ask yourself if there are any niche heroes that you haven’t used in the last 4 months. Do you need to keep them
• set a monthly budget for your pulls and once spent - stop. It’s easy to get addicted
• I have had a look at your 3* and 4* heroes. In my opinion they are all good - and I wouldn’t feed any away until I have maxed out all your new replacements

Sands offers are coming in. You can replenish your gem bank with some of those offers if you are okay to buy some roster space.

But you have 170 dupe 5*. Assuming one SE eats up 19 dupes net, that almost 10 SE, every 3 months, making that like 30 months. 2.5 years.

If you are summoning, you will replenish your dupes in no time.

I would just feed away 50 5* dupes for now, leaving 120 dupes, enough for 6x SE. Plus Free up 50 slots.

24 months a year. On which planet are you living? . Would be useful to play EP and work 10 months a year.

oh yah 30 months = 2.5 years.

Definitely can eat up more 5* dupes then.

Some do actually only work 10 months a year. Their pay for 10 months covers 1 year. Gig economy mostly.

I think people made some great points. You have enough 5*s that feeding a few away will not effect your ability to use soul exchange. That’s what I’ve been doing, I have maybe 40 legendaries that of course I’ll do nothing with, so as I get new ones, I just feed them.

Here’s my personal take. If you’re going to spend money to summon heroes, it’s necessary to buy the space. If you have a workaround like we all discussed above, great. But ultimately one day you will have to buy that space. I just save myself the hassle and buy it now. I have 425 spots and after the next two petals, I’m assuming I’ll need at least 15 or more to store all the new heroes. Such is life lol.

I’ll keep you posted on my pulls, I’m nervous after this last ninja portal, brutal lol. Cheers and good luck if you summon!!

I would never feed away my five stars (but they are super rare to me, though, important to keep in mind, that my perspective is a bit off there! )

But still - With that many heroes and that many summons, I am guessing that you are ok with spending a bit on the game? So if it was me, I think I would spend the money on expanding my collection space, to accomodate for your summons. Also for your future summons.

Like @Ugk26 says - if you are spending money on summons, spend money on the space for them

I’m going to try to be ruthless with my suggestions for culling. Note: I’m missing some of your heroes so in most cases I’ll only offer suggestions on the heroes I have.

My emergency culling suggestions for @Kenzo only

1. Bauchan #2. Love him but I think his peak has passed with Treevil and others.
2. Rudolph. Christmas family got nerfed, plus Christmas event will return quicker than Springvale (you have Squire Rabbit).
3. C-Bane. You can train him* or get him from every single summoning portal except Challenge Festival and Black Friday. I prefer to use Poppy over C-Bane.
4. Hisan. You’ve Noril and Whacker. Older hero so outdated stats too.
5. Valen. No costume plus same reason as for C-Bane.
6. C-Oberon if no/lowly emblemed. Same reason as for C-Bane. Plus you have 2 Treevils! Ignore if +20
7. C-Balt. I hardly use him, and same reason as C-Bane.
8. Frosty. Christmas family nerfed plus you have Helo.
9. BT. No costume for him, and available almost everywhere. I don’t have his costume so I prefer to use my costumed 4* healers. Note: Disregard if using in Epic + you may want for Wo3K.
10. Wu Kong.You have Bertulf + 2x Sergei, no costume plus Wu is available almost everywhere.
11. Peters? I never tried for him because I got Hansel early. I got him late so I don’t plan to max him.
    ? because I noticed no Li Xiu/Chao etc. I think more options for mana control is better than less, especially since he’s maxed.
12. C-Caedmon. You have a nice set of maxed 4* greens, and you have C-Mel for a green dispell. Available almost everywhere.
13. C-Tibertus. You have 2x Sergei. Unfortunately, even with the costume, Tibs has about 200 less HP than Sergei (C-Tibs does have a higher def). Available almost everywhere.
14. Lady W. I have Lady W+7, and I think she is overshadowed by Gullin and D’Andre. I’m enjoying my D’Andre+20 a lot and would max a second.
15. Gafar. Outdated stats. I use maybe once in a blue moon.

Ignore any suggestion if you have LB’d the hero!

*As you probably already know, you cannot feed away the last copy of any costume. So you wouldn’t need to summon the costumed hero again.

I feel that this is an extreme/emergency situation for @Kenzo’s roster. And I suppose it may be easier for me to suggest for someone’s roster. Truly. I think I can understand not wanting to feed away some 5*. I have practically kept every single 5* I’ve ever gotten. The only way any 5* left my roster is for feeding HA10 and through the Soul Exchange (using S1 dupes only).

I’ve fed away some maxed 3* to free up roster slots, and I plan to feed away both partially and fully leveled 4* to free up more slots in the future. E.g. C-Wu Kong.

Extra note for @Kenzo - I’m assuming you have plenty of the 3* mats need to max out 4*.
