I’ve been ranting about this theory to my alliance for a while now, and I’m just posting this to see what other players have to say about it. I don’t expect this post to last but hopefully I can get feedback from some of you who noticed it too. There might even be a topic about this already so I would also appreciate it if someone posts a link here.
Guinevere and Gravemaker are the strongest tanks in the game, but is it possible that aside from their broken abilities and stats, the reason behind their success is that the boards are always tilted in their favor against the attacking team? I have screenshots but this theory is very hard to prove with that kind of evidence, so I’m not really making a strong case. I’m just wondering if any of you have noticed that once Guin or GM are in the raid/war defense, the board will either stubbornly refuse to favor a color stacked team with the right tiles, and will even feed Guin and GM all the wrong tiles to help them rout the attacking team? I have the same theory for Drake Fong but in Diamond, it’s more often that a raiding player will encounter Guin or GM on the other side. One of my favorite raid teams is a dark stacked team of Rigard, Tiburtus (12 talent levels), Ares (4 talent levels), Khiona (5 talents levels), and Proteus (9 talent levels). It’s a pretty effective team when going against any yellow tank, but it seems near impossible to beat any team with a Guinevere tank or a GM in any position (I dont use this team to try against a GM tank) as the boards seem to always favor the defense.
I recognize that GM’s speed makes the board seem to favor his skill, and Guin’s mana drain makes it hard to get my team’s skills going, but I think there really is something wrong with the board itself whenever these two are on the other side. Any thoughts on this? Thanks everyone.
Get used to find ur perfect formula to face “zeline - guin - GM” format on upper diamond.
Try to stack 4 purple and 1 red sniper. Thats my usually working answer to face tough guin tank. With a lil bit luck Guin will died with 6 purple tiles.
I echo what @mogulemon said - I takes a while to find the right combination to fight those heroes. Yes, they are strong, but I’ve yet to see any biased boards. I get just as many pro-dark boards as I do boards with 0 dark matches.
I typically run a 3-2 purple/red stack against a Guin/GM team. The purples are for Guin and the reds (Zim/BT) are for my teams health/attack. It’s fairly effective considering you just aren’t going to win them all.
I hope i don’t spam here but here’s my collection video when facing guin.
Because guin usually flanked by GM, the formula only consist 3 purples and 2 reds (if u have premium heroes) or 4 purples and 1 red (if u have basic standar heroes). That usually works except u have really bad boards and 2nd or 3rd retry u will be given good board by RNG.
Thank you everyone for your replies. This is just one of those spontaneous but long coming frustration posts and I acknowledge that I’m just being overwhelmed by the challenge that these heroes bring. I’ll be taking down the post soon.
I hope it was a useful venting for you, and that you’re feeling better about it!
Before I close this thread — do you want any personal advice/suggestions on dealing with Guin and Gravemaker?
I’m sure if you posted your Hero Roster, lots of people would be happy to help you figure out approaches that make the challenge of these heroes less overwhelming.
I’ve been hunting Guin tanks since last fall when I made my first mono-Purple team. I kill Guin in 3 tiles up to +6. If it’s a bad board, I can survive one - sometimes 2 Guin specials
My mono blue team easily kills Gravy in 3 tiles and reasonably easily survives a hit from him, and can survive 2.
To me maybe Del and now certainly Aegir are stronger than Gravy at tank. I have a feeling that a fully emblemed Ares or Santa might also give him a run
Sabina, Boldtusk, Proteus, Wilbur, Rigard is a strong enough set-up to take out Guin 50% of the times, depending on the starting board, so I don’t think she will be more than an annoyance against some strong dark 5* trio like Kage, Khuncen, Sartana… By the way, word is another high class dark sniper is coming in july…
Thanks for the tips - I just ran up against Icelogic myself, and need the successful example. BTW, Ice has now replaced Alasie with Aegir, so it’s kill Guin quick or she won’t die.
