When coming to speak about some tanks like justice etc for wars people say stuff like. You just bring a cleanser and time it right and it is very easy tanks to deal with
But…
How many cleansers people have in Average?
Everyone can bring one. maybe even two but if we have whole alliance tanking tank that need cleansers… that can be new strategy
Have tanks of different color but all needs a cleanser to deal with…
In the traditional sense of the word, I have 3 leveled. 2 5* and 1 4*.
There are also heroes that aren’t technically cleansers but can be used as such in certain circumstances. These are heroes that overwrite a status ailment. For example, Bold will overwrite Richards -attack and Kiril can overwrite Tibs -def (also Richards -attack).
Including these pseudo-cleansers, I have around a dozen leveled 4 & 5*.
My leveled cleanse-all heroes:
3 legendary maxed: Kunchen, 2x Vivica
1 legendary 3/70: Vivica
2 epic maxed: Rigard
1 rare maxed: Gill-Ra
1 rare not-yet-maxed: Tyrum with Roman Remnant costume
… okay, that last two won’t see any wars. I’ll still be able to bring a cleanser with each flag.
(Additionally to the cleanse-all crew, the Sand Empire heroes have self-cleanse, and (though I don’t have him) Aeron has three-cleanse – but usually when people speak of cleansers, it’s the cleanse-all heroes.)
To deal with status ailments, I have…
4 Rigards - cleanse all
2 BTs- reverse att down
2 Kirils - reverse att down & def down
Magni - reverse def down on 3
Gandalf costume - reverse def down, heal over time counter damage over time
In the sense that you probably mean, I’d say 2 and a third, plus an honorable mention:
Rigard (maxed, maxed costume, and currently adding emblems)
Duplicate Rigard (maxed, in progress of maxing costume)
1/3rd: Rumpelstiltskin, because I can’t rely on it
Honorable mention: Mother North, because a hero I revive is cleansed - it works really well!
I also have Gil-Ra, costumed Tyrum, and the self-cleansing Jabbar (all maxed), but they rarely see usage (outside of the raid tournaments).
Obviate
That said, I strongly agree with @LadySuzanne; often it is better to counter with a hero that not only cleanses, but flips the debuff. I have many many more heroes that do that, though it depends what sort of ailment I’m up against. Even if I can only flip one of multiple ailments that’s sometimes enough. I often look to the following heroes first, before opting for ‘just’ a cleanse:
Mitsuko, Merlin and Proteus (preventing the status ailment before it even happens)
Boldtusk (I have two maxed, one of whom is heavily emblemed)
Kiril (I have two maxed, one of whom is heavily emblemed)
Wilbur, Aegir, and even Danzaburo
Onatel (blind resist)
And I would say any riposter also merits consideration, in that I am often willing to be hurt if it hurts the other side as much or more
On my main, 3 (not counting dupes). Roman Tyrum, Sonya, and Gill-Ra. Stinking Rigard keeps eluding me. Knowing my luck on my main, I will get the costume before the actual hero. Alt #1 has Gill-Ra, Viking Sonya, Roman Tyrum.
I have more than I can list from memory. I only use two, Ariel and Rigard. Rigard just got put back in play after maxing his costume and spent the last 6 months a least collecting dust.
Even so, I don’t even think of their cleansing ability.
Now take away my despellers and I would go into a panic.
