Apple has something called Game Center that’s essentially identical for this purpose.
The problem isn’t that Game Center loses the data, the problem is that E&P creates a new account and associates it with the player’s Game Center account. I’m just not sure why that happens to some players and not others.
It probably doesn’t, just like the Apple accounts don’t.
