Avoiding Overspending & Heartache
Or: How many summons are needed to get an Epic Challenge Event Hero?
It’s important to remember that Challenge Event Heroes have EXTREMELY low summoning odds. No amount of summoning will guarantee a Challenge Event Hero.
On average, in a 10-pull, you have a 25.1% chance of summoning Hansel.
But that statistic can lead our minds astray in exactly how our odds play out as we continue summoning.
Some useful insights:
50 times out of 100, you’ll get Hansel by pull 24 (6,400 gems)
94 times out of 100, you’ll get Hansel by pull 100 (26,000 gems)
99 times out of 100, you’ll get Hansel by pull 160 (41,600 gems)
Putting that in Perspective
50 out of every 100 people won’t get Hansel by the 24th pull
If 1 Million players each summoned times, 500,000 of those players wouldn’t get Hansel
6 out of every 100 people won’t get Hansel by the 100th pull
If 1 Million players each summoned times, 60,000 of those players wouldn’t get Hansel
1 out of every 100 people won’t get Hansel by the 160th pull
If 1 Million players each summoned times, 10,000 of those players wouldn’t get Hansel
More Insights & Reading
I highly recommend reading these three threads for more information and context on summoning odds:
If you’ve read them a million times before, you may consider reading them again before deciding on your budget for summoning. A little time spent deciding on how much money you want to risk on summoning goes a long way to avoiding disappointment, frustration, and regret later.
As I stated yesterday, I feel that this guy is definitely worth getting and lvl’ing up. Pair him with emblems and the roughly ~160 dmg done to enemies themselves when they reach full mana and are under Hansel’s special effect ain’t nothing to dismiss lightly. It really helps in blocking enemy chars who have a nasty special or finishing off enemies who are at low health.
Have been saving up gems and tokens for Grimforest for a chance at Hansel, Gretel and Pixie.
Used up my 4 free challenge token summons, zilch. then did a 10-pull…
and got 2 Pixies and 2 Hansels!
quite pleased. I really needed Hansel, most of my 4* Greens are AOEs and slow, so I struggle with my Green 4* squad on Raid Tournaments. Hansel will be a very welcome addition alongside Caedmon, Little John, Melendor and Jack O’Hare
Hansel is my absolute fave. He was my first event hero, and I just pulled another Hansel today that I will definitely be levelling up when I have the mats. His mana control is a lifesaver against those heroes you just need to hold out for another turn or two to finish off before they fire their special!
He was on my mono green team for the longest… until telly came along. Still haven’t stripped him of his emblems. I love his special… much better than say, cabin boy. My second is at 3/60… might pull the trigger soon.
I got him from a single pull and I’m happy but my green stack is already strong (Tel/cMel/Bryn/LLocke) and I’m not sure if he needs emblems more than Lady Woolerton which I’m currently leveling because she needs those emblems for sure.
Hansel and Gretel are my fave weapon against Ludwig. Took Hansel versus a Ludwig tank today. Melendor to dispel the taunt, Hansel hit the Quennell flank…
Quennell basically suicided, took repeated damage after the mana kept filling up!
Not amazed by Gretel, however Hanzel already won me multiple raids and two top 1% tournament finishes. Having a fast mana controller is great.
It’s really nice to have some of the previously paywalled 4* heroes added to the Hero Academy training options. Gives a f2p/c2p a real fighting chance against otherwise very tough P2W defences, such as the Christmas defense.
Still my favorite special . Helped again with pets . Had two of him going and riposte protected. Defense is weak but he is invaluable. Favorite hero easily
