[Guide] Tremors of Underwild (Season 4) Farming Monsters

Goal

I wanted to figure out which stages have the most monsters in Season 4 to increase efficiency when farming during Tremors of Underwild.

Highest monster levels

5-10 and 6-10 are the highest monster count stages I came across. Both are 3 boss stages which may hinder autoplay and speediness. 2-2 and 10-2 are the next best levels. 5-2, 9-2, 9-4 and 9-8 are all tied for fifth.

Methodology

To figure out which stages have the highest monster count I did six runs on Season 4 levels to get a quick idea of which level has the highest monster count. To speed things up, I used loot tickets and the monster chest for quick and easy counting.
Obviously six runs isn’t enough to get definitive answers here. I plan to go back through the top levels to get a more accurate count.

Note some levels reached 100+ monsters in six waves. I’ll dig more into those later.

My farming approach

I generally farm 9-4 during AR and 9-2 or 9-8 during VF. The 3 flag levels generally give the best ROI for farming (unless you’re focused on loot tickets, speed of using flags, avatars). These levels generally have the highest monsters per flag available. The general theory is that special monsters (e.g. seadragons) have a higher likelihood of appearing in harder levels (both a higher stage and hard mode over normal) and their appearance is on a per monster basis, not a per stage basis. So these high levels work well in combination with a high monster count.
I generally have plenty of each crafting mat, so I don’t focus on anything in particular. Honestly higher troop chance would be my most preferred loot.

Next steps

  • Add more runs to top levels
  • Add wave count, number of bosses, and best levels for elemental chests
  • Add basic XP, ham, iron, recruits for each level
I don’t plan on collecting individual pieces of loot as it’s tedious. Maybe I could do 10 loot tickets at a time and count nuggets easily?

Notes

I used my Beta account to do this farming so I could blow through gem skips, loot tickets, and WE flasks with no concern. I have no reason to believe this would lead to an inaccurate data collection method, but it’s possible.
It’s more likely I made an error with the collection either by clicking the wrong level, typing the wrong number, using the wrong number of loot tickets, etc.
Special monsters are a bit of an unknown science.
My approach to farming likely won’t match yours.

I hope this helps your farming. I’ll probably be doing 8-2 as the nature buff plays nicely with the blue mobs.

Do these number exclude the bosses ? Some map might have 2-3 boss which will affect the number of monster if you use the loot ticket.

You are correct in your point. Numbers include mobs and bosses so it’s the total number your monster chest would increase.
One of the follow ups is to hone in on the number of bosses to separate out the number of mobs.

This is very handy, thanks for sharing!

Started playing P6-10N manually on and off. I think your theory may hold some water.

My sample size is terribly tiny though : 10 runs => 4 bats. :joy::rofl:

Edit: played another 6 runs. 4 bats. Updated still tiny sample size = 16 runs, 8 bats. :joy::rofl:

Love this post!! Thank you for putting in this great work. Will definitely be following this as you process.

To add, I’m currently running 20-7. Which get me 15 monsters and 1 boss. It also helping me finish the underwater s4 mission.

Contributing more statistics:
99 monsters on 6-10 in my six-run.
105 on 5-10.

Updated with data for all stages in the first 10 provinces.
Updated with some elemental chest guides from the community (thank you @SamMe for sharing on Line)

I’m still farming 8-2 to take advantage of the blue mobs and buff to nature heroes.

Next step:
I’m going to do a quick one loot ticket on X-10 for each province to get an idea of XP, Iron, and Ham
I’ll do more runs for the top 10 stages or so to get more sample for the monster count. I’ll still focus on what my autoplay farming level will be. My longer term plan is to better validate elemental chests (I liked the old Barry style of expected WE to fill a chest).

@Ruskin505 Could you add the detail of monster wave and boss wave ?

For example, 6-10 : 5 Wave, 3-4 monster per wave, x3 boss

Since the test run might not accurate. Some map might actually have same amount of monster but RNG make them spawn less or more than actual average.

Yep good idea. That’s the longer term plan.

Getting wave count isn’t too hard as I can pop into a level and then flee.

Monster count and boss count is harder as some levels have two of the same boss. So I have to autoplay through the level, but pay attention enough to record number of bosses and element of boss wave mobs.

I’ve previously done timed tests of Atlantis rising farming teams to be efficient. I might even get to that at some point as some want to farm as quickly as possible.

@Ruskin505 I found that some map after stage 10 in season 4 that cost 7 energy have really high number of monster.

For example, S4 12-7 have total 4 wave, 4-5 monster per wave and 1 boss + 4 monster in boss wave. It might be better than the best cost 6 energy.

Any chance you remember which level this was and/or how many monsters were there?

Sorry, I remember only S4 12-7 . I was actually finding the best map to complete the avatar mission. S4 12-7 is the best map .

Only other map I remember is 12-1. 3 wave, 4 monster per wave and 1 boss + 4 monster in boss wave.

I used 5 loot tickets on 12-7 and got 91 monsters. That’s 18.2 per run or 4.55 per flag (assuming 4 flag cost).

I’ve been farming 8-2 which has 5.28 monsters per flag.

If you just want monsters, I don’t think the 4 flag levels are optimal. However, it’s possible rare monsters spawn more frequently on higher stages which could make the level more viable for bat farming.

Am I right that both S3:12-7 and S4:12-7 have high monster count? Or is it that I mixed up my notes?

I did 3 runs on each
season 3 12-7: 47 monsters
season 4 12-7: 56 monsters
