What has happened to global chat.It feels like a porn site,a bully site,a dating site to name a few.So over the same people masquerading around with 2 or more different names but same person,monopolising the site with brainless banter that often ends up almost r rated.There are people of all ages using this site and playing the game that don’t want to be exposed to some of the smutty bad taste conversations.A poor 13 year old teen yesterday caught the brunt of some dominant types which was quite upsetting for a few.Bullying in cyber space from adults with immature dispositions…it’s such a bid issue for teens even leading to suicide so it’s not cool for a bit of fun to persecute.Then there are the crew that want to convey how sexual they are,playing around getting very graphic and really bad taste.I for one am not a prude but I don’t want pornography with my game thanks!!Yes you can report or block but these people just come back with a new persona,so that’s not working.And then there are the people on 24/7 …big sigh…no we don’t want to listen to them prattle all day long,I guess they don’t have jobs,for many this game and global are about light entertainment.Many people try to participate but what’s the point if you get ignored.Happens when people ask about game questions too,they get ignored often.Please clean up GC at least the porn and bullying,make it good for everyone rather than few.What do others think? And yes I have line app so I can talk nice with nice people.
Why dont you just close the GC if it bothers you so much? 
I never used it in the many months I have played.
And I dont see any suggestions from you to make GC better. They have censorship, the options you mentioned, so there is not much they can do. Only thing I can think of is maybe in-game moderators that have the power to mute these disturbing players globally, but that’s it.
There is a saying about problems - can you do anything about the problem? If yes, do everything you can to solve it. If no, just let it go.
I agree with Annie’s general concern, I’m fine with the language I’ve seen in GC and used worse myself, but is this the image that the devs want to present to new players? That said, I really don’t see how it could be made much better short of having a mod online all hours of the day, which would be very draining.
The word filter might need a bit of updating though, while I get that you can’t really censor the word threesome or phrases like “taco glazer”, over the last five minutes the convo has ranged from rapey guild names to asking what you call a fat Chinese prostitute (Chun Ki Ho, for those who’re curious). Given what the filter general screens out I’m surprised that last one made it through.
And yes, I’m aware of the hypocrisy in posting those examples in the game’s forum. I like to think it drives home the point though.

I agree. I’ve just been keeping global chat closed all the time. It’s not a place I want to hang out, but I also don’t have a good solution except draconican censors and ingame mods 24/7 which isn’t a great solution.
Every game has the same issue.

Global chat is needed for those players seeking answers (until the game provides a full on permanent tutorial or links to the several excellent game guides like Coppersky’s).

Annie, I thoroughly understand your point, and it’s a madhouse in there. The thing Global needs is dedicated goodwill ambassadors that greet new players, answer questions, point folks in the right direction, and don’t descend into the whole porno/bullying thing in the public chat.
I ALSO understand the frustrations some folks have with trolls, with people who pretend to have issues for kicks, multiple-personality posters, etc.
We who deal with global only have so much patience and sometimes we snap (perhaps in the wrong direction, perhaps at the wrong person)…let us try to be excellent to each other. 
Just don’t have GC as the default chat. I would prefer my alliance chat to be the default and global as optional.
The problem is people don’t start off in an alliance and they usually learn how to join one thru Global. Despite the periodic black eye, it has its uses.
No, and now with the forum it is even more useless. I would say just kill Global Chat. People need to talk then they can come here or use a line chat program. 
Why not just drive newbies here? Why must we have the global chat to help newbies?
To be honest, it was not much help for me at all. I had better luck learning how to do things on YouTube. 
Thanks Steve for the input I started using the chat for getting answers to game before this forum was made and found it helpful.As I’m in a plateau on the game I’m a bit bored and went on GC more for connecting with people and enjoy that light social interaction.As far as improvements to GC If you had to pay say iron for a slot of time or have say an hour allocation like a health bar which would provide ample time for questions interaction etc.At least that way it could be free and allow space and time for others.Everyone knows people hang online to not get raided so is time allocation would solve that problem.Its a shame that this forum isn’t being used more I guess because of chat,so maybe a forum toggle to redirect.My main concern was that the diversity of age groups that use GC and with multi media it’s popular especially with young people.I work as a teacher and teenage suicides are pretty high and cyber bullying is being addressed to little avail to help with this problem,The psyche of a teen is very fragile a lot of things like bullying contribute,I noticed many people look the other way,don’t want to get involved etc so I would like the adults to acknowledge that it’s not cool and speak up.Its a difficult problem and I was just putting it out there as I feel others feel the same way.Solutions would be great,maybe the devs should have more of an online presence and call a spade a spade!!!

Thanks Dafcra having no GC would defiantly resolve the problem and yes I mostly use alliance chat.The thing is once you open a chat room,which the devs did there is a duty of care that needs to be addressed.Not using the site is all good and well but kids playing are going to get involved,their worlds are smaller than ours and parental censorship probably obsolete ,it’s a harmless online game after all.The prevalence of pedophiles on these innocents sites is a real concern,I’ve seen email,Facebook and phone numbers passed around.An avatar conveys all sorts of messages but not age,but none wants to admit age.The smutty talk that gets ridiculous is opening up a whole new world to these young people that they wouldn’t have got on other game sites,as most don’t have a chat room.Whether I use or don’t use the GC is irrelevant,the problems that ensue are going to continue and that’s what needs to be addressed.I did provide some solutions to Steve in my reply there.I would just like the nice people to call out those that are abusing the room and be aware it’s not all adults participating.Cheers

So in conclusion:
- Hide/remove GC. Make it harder to reach
- If player is in an alliance, make the alliance chat display instead of GC
- Better references in-game to @Coppersky materials and this forum: Coppersky's Compendium - an unofficial game guide

I some time go to globle chat i try to help the new people with game question but bye the time i type the amswer there is so much junk that my help gets loss as well i have on many occation on it and reminded them to watch there language and the context of the conversation i told them many timed thst kids as young as 12 play this game and as adult we have a responsiblity to the young
I love the global chat, it is one way this game stands out. I love that most everyone is friendly, interested, and helpful. I really like being able to connect with others outside my alliance, and sometimes I even turn gypsy for a day and go out visiting with ppl I’ve met through global.
However, I do agree that global chat has gone way too far on many occasions. You never know what you’re going to walk into! An online orgy, a game discussion, or sometimes even some great social chatter. I don’t like that I have to tell ppl it’s ‘use at own risk’ when they ask how global chat is rated.
Maybe we could get the community managers to clarify what should be reported? Then use that as a guide for players to consistently report. Not as good as in game mods, but we get enough ppl on the same page it could be a bit of a neighbourhood watch. Only problem is, it would take the devs time to respond. Or ask them to lurk in global a bit more until it gets cleaned up a bit?
Question: why aren’t there Mods? I’m curious here, not asking for a censoring body to step in. Just asking the question…
I don’t even chat I just play the game and ignore them.
