🏅 [Fourth Raid Tournament] Discussion and Feedback on the Updated Raid Tournament Matchmaking

After the Third Raid Tournament, SGG made additional changes to matchmaking for the Fourth Raid Tournament:

  • Improvements to matchmaking to more evenly distribute attacks among all players.
  • The difficulty of the opponents reduced slightly in the beginning of tournaments.
  • The difficulty of the teams that the player’s defense team faces is based on the defense team instead of the five best heroes in their roster.
  • Fixed a bug where last week’s leaderboard showed wrong values when a new tournament had started.

Maintenance break is over and Raid Tournaments are back!

Improvements and changes:

  • The difficulty of enemies that the players face at the beginning of the Tournament is now determined by the 5 best heroes in their roster (within the rarity and element limits of the current tournament).
  • Improvements to matchmaking to more evenly distribute attacks among all players.
  • The amount of Difficulty Bonus is increased and has more emphasis on the performance of the opponents Tournament Defense Team.
  • Fixed a bug where players could get loot that was not correct for their final loot tier.
  • The amount of loot given from Raid Tournaments has been reduced for the meantime.

First Raid Tournament is starting soon!

  • Raid Tournaments are special Raids that you can join each week.
  • Raid Tournaments have 3 phases:
    • Preparation Phase that lasts for 24 hours. During the preparation phase, you join the upcoming Tournament and prepare your defense team. You can only use defense teams that match the event rules.
    • Battle Phase lasts for four days. The Battle Phase is divided into four Battle Days where you have five attacks available for each Battle Day. You can only use attack teams that match the event rules.
    • Reward Phase that lasts two days. Your final score will determine your reward tier. You get rewards only from the highest reward tier that you belong to.
  • Raid Tournaments have three Special Rules:
    • Rush Attack: All Special Skills are Very Fast.
    • Bloody Battle: Healing has no effect.
    • Buff Booster: Each active buff gives +20% attack.
  • Raid Tournaments can have limitations to Hero and Troop rarity and Elements.
  • Raid Tournaments are scored based on four factors:
    • Enemies killed: The number of enemies killed during your attack.
    • Winning: Victorious attack will award extra points.
    • Difficulty Bonus: Winning the attack will award points based on comparing the performance of the opponent’s defense team with the performance of your attacks.
    • Defense Team Grade: Your defense team will receive points at the end of each Battle Day based on their performance.

We have now scheduled the next Raid Tournament to start next week, on Tuesday, 23th of April, 2019.

As this is a brand new feature, we will be monitoring it and making further adjustments based on our findings and player feedback. Please make sure to read our previous response and follow our Raid Tournaments Change Log for all updates and improvements related to this feature.

Obviously matchmaking has been a source of significant issues in previous Raid Tournaments — but seems to be improving, albeit still in need of further work, judging by feedback on the Forum.

In particular, distribution of attacks across players has still appeared to be uneven.

With the Fourth Raid Tournament approaching, the question will be: does this new iteration work better now?

Players with 4275 points, are you kidding me? Look in the ranking. Are these people doing 8 attacks on day 1?


I will start positive in saying the initial round is paired better strength wise than the last 5* (slightly tougher to judge though with 3 and 5*) my defense and attack teams are 2200 TP. Started vs around 2000 TP opponents.

Previous tournament was my 3700 TP emblemed 4* few 5* defense straight into 4200 emblemed 5*. That’s a step in the right direction. I felt lost off the bat last week.

2nd thing most leaders look to be 24-2500 range score wise, but how in the world did the top team score 4200 and 2nd team 3600 then quickly falls to everyone else at 2600??

Defense bonus kicks in after the 1st day right I’m pretty certain. My only initial negative thought is a few points totals.

Love the tourney, I think you at SG have done well with quickly tuning these into better matches. After this perhaps it’s time to bump the loot up quite a bit tho EH?



That would mean an average of 855 per attack.
I do not know how that can be acchieved…

Hmm. I did all 5 attacks right away, won them all, yay etc. 2300 odd points. The top player has almost twice that from their 5 attacks. You can’t re-roll so what am I doing wrong? What is s/he doing right? The discrepancy seems pretty huge and potentially (not knowing the reason) unfair.

Your fine, ignore the top 3 scores as that’s some kind of error. Leaders have 2500 and it starts to taper down. Top 3 scores will stand but something is off there.

This whole thing continues to be a farce. All my opponents are in the 450 point range, when the leaders are clearly getting 500 points per match. It’s utterly pointless if you stand no chance of doing well due to the bad match making. Never mind the clear bug with too 3 scores.

It happened also in the previous tourneys, and the staff had to remove their score manually since it was caused by a bug.

But if you were asscessed and then paired vs 495 point value teams, who should be stronger opponents, perhaps you end up 3-2 record day 1. A lot of teams that may have scored 2500 might have taken a loss and are hanging out below you?

No, because if they scored a loss they couldn’t have scored over 2500 points. If some people are getting the chance you score 500 points a fight and others only get the chance to score 450 a fight then it is clearly broken and just a pure lottery. Unless they actually fix this the whole thing is a waste of time


I’m saying there could be many other players who faced 500 teams each time but lost one of them. I realize the 2500 point totals went 5-0. But how many went 4-1 and sit with 2200 instead. Idk.

Also give it a day or 2 and see. I’d consider it broken If I had to face a bunch of 3* with +20 emblems with my normal 3*. Hell they could be worth 600 and I’d be upset with tough opponents at the start and maybe knocked out day 1 or 2. Just look at the other sides of everything.

But if you are scoring hundreds of points less a day, you just fall further behind each day. I don’t really see how it can ever work with everyone at such different levels. It’s always going to turn into pay to win as only the strongest fully emblemed teams get the chance at the highest points.

I see what your saying. Assuming we all win out, the leaders points will be scaling up each win, same as ours and outside of our defense they consistently hold that 200 or so point gap. You make a solid point.

So far, except for the first bugged tournament, I think all teams who won all their matches ended up in the top 1%. And sure, the teams who put a lot of effort into embleming their 3 stars will end up in the top 10, but I’d say that’s pretty fair.

I have no problem with a fair tournament where everyone has a chance but what the heck is this?

5/5 wins, half of the points the leader have in this moment… This devs are a joke… They definetly can’t keep the pace with this game. Servers go down, the implementation of new things have a fine tuning proces of at least 3-4 months(wars are a good example). We are all beta testers lately for some slouchy devs.


Sad thing is that they will never fix this system lol is just a jok3 system…and they r not understanding that they r pissing off most of their players…

As far as im understanding the system is based on th3 defences win loose percentage based on that they give points too ,now if im lucky to get a defence that won 3 raids that will be a massive score for me ,but i can be unlucky and face a deff4ncr that already lost 4 raids and that will be a very low score for me , im at 6100 position with all 5 raids won and with a def3nce power over 2400
