FORCED SPECTATOR MODE?: Exclusion from the war without the consent of the players

Almost a quarter of my Alliance is excluded from tomorrow’s War!

@Petri

Please revisit the above?

None of the reasons in the linked explanation extend to us. It would seem to me, that with many suffering the same inexplicable experience, that a bug exists. We have, as an alliance, decided not to participate in our upcoming war despite our looming battle. Not as a a rebuke to E&P, but to stand with our brother in solidarity.

My alliance had a member 2 wars ago that was put into spectator mode. He is a co-leader and daily player. He had his team filled ready to go and logged on right before war started and found he was in spectator mode. He did not uncheck the box and had a full team ready to go.

@Rook @Petri this happened to one player in our alliance during the last War as well — same situation as others reported, his checkbox is checked, he thinks he never unchecked it at any point previously, but he was excluded from our War team.

Our alliance is The Pirate Horde.

Thanks for continuing to investigate!

I have a question to all the players posting in this thread: Are the players getting knocked out all co-leaders, Elders, Members or mixed? I had an idea…

I had often been going to the War tab to change the banner with Settings:

I hit the outer left corner, but it would be really easy to accidentally click your participation.

Solution: AVOID WAR TAB for this purpose and change settings in Titan box. (I avoid the Members tab to change settings because it’s just too easy to click the [leave] button by mistake.

Does this help?

@Rook The player who was kicked out of war in our alliance is currently an elder. I cannot guarantee what his status was at the time he was removed from the war as he was promoted around the same time.

Hmmm…could promoting someone have anything to do with it?

I just edited my last post; please scroll up?

@Rook I agree this is a very good suggestion. Unfortunately, in the situation with our player, this is not applicable as our alliance info is set and does not get changed (Although I’m sure it needs updated!). There would be no reason for any elder or above to touch this setting so would not accidentally remove the checkmark from War participation.

Again, I’m not 100% sure what his title was at the time he was removed from War. He could have still been a member…Just not sure.

Ah well, back to the drawing board! :disappointed:

Well, I don’t think it’s been disproved. Lol. I know he didn’t opt out on purpose, but he is quite an E&P addict so he may have grabbed his phone in the middle of the night and hit the wrong button

I think more information is needed to prove or disprove any of the suggested hypothesis:

  1. SGs algorithm magically removes 1+ players to make matches with identical amount of players.
  2. An issue with elders and above (aka fat-fingers on the Settings button).
  3. Does changing a persons status cause the issue?

Besides the conspiracy theories around SG doing it to make us mad (), did I miss any?

With the new update this button has been moved to the left :

Lol, I’d never thought of that :joy:

@Rook As was the case for a couple others above, our member excluded wasn’t a leader/co-leader.

Please post here every time it happens to you (and I would go ahead and report to Game Support directly), until it stops happening.

Maybe after the latest update is downloaded it will be solved. crosses fingers

I actually like the movement of the [settings] button and participation box. Much easier to click the settings and NOT accidentally click participation on/off.

@Rook I talked with our alliance member (@Shonp) who was kicked out of wars. He stated that he was a regular member at that time and was promoted to Elder after.

If this is correct, that would discount the hypothesis that players with settings were accidentally hitting the participation box instead of the settings button. It would also remove the hypothesis that changing a player status (promoting) triggers a bug.

Sorry, no screenshot or other proof to back this up. In my world, if you don’t have the proof then it didn’t happen (), but with other people complaining of the same thing it makes me think there is something else going on.

Thank-you for taking the time to collect the data!

This precisely matches our situation. The person excluded from the War in our alliance was a regular member. After the War had already begun, and he’d been excluded, he was promoted to Elder.

So I agree, it doesn’t seem to be related to being a leader/co-leader, and it doesn’t seem to be related to having promoted someone, since in both cases the promotion happened after the exclusion.

Yeah, I was hypothesizing, since unknown bugs bug me!

I have very nearly clicked myself (a) out of the alliance in the members tab, and (b) out of war on the War tab, so it was a thought.

Please keep reporting to SG. We’ll get that pesky bug!

Now our Leader is forced to be a spectator in the upcoming war… I was hoping there would be a solution here but alas, it does not appear so. Yes his check mark is there, Yes he is running the latest version… yes…
