Do you get any special bonus for completing a season?
It varies per person and what difficulty level you completed but here is what I got from completing Valhalla hard mode. Other than the coins, avatar, and mats you don’t get anything else.

You get ascension materials, but you need to collect them from the Missions screen after you finish the battle
The rewards are more than what is listed there

Since more than two years he was plying this game he knows that, I think he was expecting something more for completion of the seasons
No, everyone gets the same. If you finish hard and easy you get a complete set of 3* and 4* mats.
Yep this. We all get the same for each season.
Definitely well worth the grind
