Family Bonus for Classic Season 1 Heroes? πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦

How about something built on practicality like:

Plate Mail Family:
Prisca, Sonya, Gunnar, Rigard, Thorne, Richard, Cyprian, Boril, Kiril, Elena
Elena is kind of iffy, because for being the Captain of the Royal Guards, you’d think she would be able to be outfitted with tummy armor too.

Possibly…but you might end up with families resembling classes.

Fighters and paladins tend to have armour and swords

Wizards tend to have staffs

It wouldn’t be identical, but it would be nice for families to cross classes, so would need some thought.

Ghost girl is easier for me :joy:

@SirGorash If the pandas get a new 5 star hero then it should be a nature pulverizer Paladin with innate resistance to defense down.

I don’t know which thread to take so I will ask here: are there plans to put a family bonus on the seasonal heroes like the sand ones, too?

Based on the family bonus applied to the Avalon heroes, the ASSUMPTION is that all event heroes will have a family bonus. My understanding is that all the monthly event heroes will have them, but I haven’t seen anything specific about the seasonal events. We’ll likely know once the upcoming Halloween event opens.

It wouldn’t make much sense if all family are from same color.

BB family: bald boys–> Karil, Brogan, Jahangir…

Horned heroes: Grimm, Hawkmoon, Belith…

Frida could be part of the pandas…

You think she worked that hard on her abs just to cover them up?

Only because it hearkens me back to this post about choice of attires.

I should’ve realized that somebody would’ve already thought of this. This is a brilliant way to help keep the first season relevant

Every first season hero should be in the same family

I really Like this breakdown!!!

How would you split the 4 & 3* heroes into this?

Would you go all the way down to 2 & 1* heroes too?

@JonahTheBard now that costumes are officially here, and they carry the following stipulation:

  • Maxed out Costume will give both the original Hero and the Costume a stat boost:

  • +5% Attack

  • +5% Defense

  • +10% HP

  • +5% Mana Generation

it seems like a potential family bonus would be redundant. Thoughts?

Certainly I would not expect SG to run a family scheme parallel to costumes now.

SG have clearly decided that they intend to profit from addressing the power-creep of HOTM/event heroes, which is regrettable.

If, somehow, a family bonus was still to be implemented, it would have to be removed from a hero by the use of a costume, which is pretty messy.

So yes, I agree that this idea is now redundant

And this is the frustrating part of costumes as a solution to the need to improve the season 1 heroes. I’d be fine paying X gems to buy a costume from the gem shop, level it up with food and feeders, and end up with a buffed S1 hero that is now more competitive in the current landscape of the game.

For example, the new Vivica is not as tanky as Kunchen, but she’s in the same arena - more healing, more defense down, dispel instead of cleanse, but no HOTM extras (which is fine). She was already a decent hero, and with her costume, she’s got a broader appeal. It solves the problem that family bonuses could have helped with.

But to lock it behind the RNG paywall is a disingenuous manner of providing balance. If I have acquired that hero, I’ve already had to deal with the RNG process once, even if it meant I waited for a pull from a TC20.

This would make the game for P2P. Unless a costume was very inexpensive a F2P player would have a difficult time collecting the gems to buy a costume.

Honestly, it wouldn’t hurt to give some season 1 heroes a family. They got no spirit link, are currently underpowered by their newer counterparts and costumes just ain’t cutting it. I like this idea. Never happens, though.

What if an all goblin team beat their way through Shrikewood? Or only the undead fought their way through Morlovia? Could the devs make one of these conditions a special trigger to unlock an extra hidden level past the final boss, where you can fight and recruit a new 5* goblin/undead character? Who knows, maybe this is in place already, and maybe that’s what the text after completing the special quest is all about (Morlovia’s Vampire King/Queen, for example)! It’s not exactly a bonus for the existing character β€œfamilies”, but it would be neat!

Other possible family groupings:

By degree of usefulness - this would allow you to give better bonuses to the really bad heroes and less to the still useful (but almost not) classics:
Good heroes
Meh Heroes
Bad Heroes
Really bad Heroes

By Class:

Classic Ranger
Classic Fighter
etc…

By who you most want to have a beer with.
