This thread is to provide early insights and discussion on the January 2024 HOTM, Zora

All Information from Beta is Subject to Change!

Don’t get attached

Details from beta, especially brand-new beta content, don’t tend to be very reliable for actual hero release.

It’s incredibly common that heroes are changed during beta testing, or sometimes even after testing but before release. That is, after all, the purpose of beta testing.

So I wouldn’t get too attached to any of this — it’s not unheard of for entire portions of skills to be removed or reworked, or for radical changes to stats to be made.

Or: How many summons are needed to get a HOTM?

Special thanks to @Garanwyn for assistance on summoning odds and proofreading for this section.

It’s important to remember that HOTM have very low summoning odds. No amount of summoning will guarantee a HOTM.

On average, in a 10-pull, you have a 12.3% chance of summoning the HOTM.

But that statistic can lead our minds astray in exactly how our odds play out as we continue summoning.

Some useful insights:

  • 73 times out of 100, you’ll get a HOTM by pull 100
  • 95 times out of 100, you’ll get a HOTM by pull 229
  • 99 times out of 100, you’ll get a HOTM by pull 352

Putting that in Perspective

  • 27 out of every 100 people won’t get the HOTM by the 100th pull

  • If 1 Million players each summoned 100 times, 270,000 of those players wouldn’t get the HOTM

  • 5 out of every 100 people won’t get the HOTM by the 229th pull

  • If 1 Million players each summoned 229 times, 50,000 of those players wouldn’t get the HOTM

More Insights & Reading

I highly recommend reading these two threads for more information and context on summoning odds:

If you’ve read them a million times before, you may consider reading them again before deciding on your budget for summoning. A little time spent deciding on how much money you want to risk on summoning goes a long way to avoiding disappointment, frustration, and regret later.

280% hit the all but slow?? Even a average hero with 280% hit all is not that good nowadays

There are better heroes with fast speed, I guess that we shouldn’t look up to this HOTM either.

What is this, Gilligan’s twin brother? Same idea, but with opposite effect:
managain on ailments instead of enemy buffs
both resist mana ailments
slow speed
ridiculous damage output (just compare him to the new elemental in beta…)
attack up instead of defense up.
Cleanse is better than bypass i guess and stats-wise there no comparison at all, gilligan’s passive is better though.

This is what I was thinking based on being slow, holy, and mana gain passive.

Cleansing status effects can make Zora useful for Rush for those without better options. I could also see the attack boost helping on titans.

But I can’t see myself using Zora outside of Titans or Rush.

What a piece of garbage. Bertila HOTM from 2yrs ago hit 290% to all as slow speed. This will be another trash like Gilligan that will be hot candidates for SE feeder.

SG make absolutely no effort, 2yrs later a HOTM that is no better than the one released 2yrs ago. Funny maybe they just copy and pasted :rofl:

Cleanse after that weak hit is such a joke, I am so excited to have 280% hit possibly affected by blind or attack down, gota make that hit more of a joke than it already it  Not to mention the hero is balanced to Def stat, the Attk stats are already low for a hitter :rofl::rofl:

But of course we need to buff those Goblins again for game balance sake don’t we?:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I thought they had turned a corner and were going to be bringing out HoTMs which were actually competative. This garbage pail kid will see me unlikely to do many summons in January. SE fodder for sure.

Just one gamer’s opinion

Game Well :sunglasses: :mechanical_arm:

Damn, they’re gonna have a dry January lol, make it at least average.

I wonder if this is a scrapped Viv costume.

2024 might be the year they stop making HOTMs entirely and just release them as new heroes for Tavern of Legends out the gate. They’re out of new ideas for them.

my reactions while reading the card:

  • hit all, hmm, decent damage
  • cleanse all, ah, nice
  • wait, slow?

yeah, I’d probably only use in Rush or in PvE. and even then, I might just bring Vivica to cleanse and heal anwyay…

I guess I don’t have to worry about pulling in January or February… at least not to get an HOTM… so… maybe I can hold off on doing another fated until it refreshes.
