This thread is to provide early insights and discussion on the Path of Giants changes.
This was not mentioned in Beta build notes we have just noticed it in the Beta application game. So there is no guarantee that this will arrive to the live game.
Don’t get too attached
Details from Beta, especially brand-new Beta content, don’t tend to be very reliable for actual release.
It’s incredibly common that features are changed during Beta testing, or sometimes even after testing but before release. That is, after all, the purpose of Beta testing.
So I wouldn’t get too attached to any of this — it’s not unheard of for entire portions of features to be removed or reworked, or for radical changes to functionality to be made.

Good idea to make this less time consuming. Although it was a challenge to try and outfit a raid team with 3 costumed heroes, 1 druid, 1 epic and 2 average mana heroes it was doable. But it does take significant time to get it all finished. Bravo!
Hey guys, we should celebrate. Indeed, take a moment to contemplate the very positive reaction in this beta beta thread. That’s a once-in-a-decade event and something we should congratulate Small Giants for It’s good to care about the game and pin-point and get mad at all the bugs, hiccups and generally bad design and UI, but we also need to note it when things move in the right direction A fine moment in a troubled sea.
As @Oxide said, it’s rather time, and food, consuming to sometimes find the right opponent in raids to defeat heroes of the requested class(es) so 3 instead of 5 is great. 5 heroes of a single element was nice since the elements are distributed a lot better among the available heroes and the actual raid defenses, but I will still take it and enjoy defeating only 3.
@sleepyhead for the no loot ticket and no SS hard mode stage in season X province Y challenge, I think it has been disabled For now at least… But I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the daily challenge with lowest completion rate.
This is something I skipped every time. I was gonna skip this next pass because its just way too time consuming. I dont think they did it for the quality of the game but to see if they can get more people to buy the pass. Its a smart move as I was done because of the time consumption
All of these challenges are currently doable but this makes it easier. I’d trade all of these changes to remove the “no special skills” challenges.
Well the changes certainly look good to me … nice job.
In my opinion, although the challenges are doable - Currently doing the two “paths” consecutively is really time consuming which impacts on the fun
None of the raid challenges ever bothered me, but now they can be done in fewer raids than before, so why not?
The stupid challenges that I skip are the hard stages without skills, because it is simply a waste of my time and I don´t much like the ones that cost me World energy in general, as that is a limited resource. At least some of them will now be 1 hit instead of 2, so that´s an improvement.
POV challenges were quietly nerfed too. For awhile war was always a requirement. Then Zynga realised that not everyone does war and would have a harder time to reach Tier 28 or 29. So they introduced points for events to make it easier for more to reach those tiers.
Zynga also introduced POVs that excluded war.
These were done to get more players to buy the basic POV Pass, and thereby increase regular revenue.
Zynga is now going the same route for POG to get more regular revenue.
Yeah it’s great for the active players who bother to complete either or both Paths. Never forget that Zynga only cares about money.
I didn’t mention it but surely the motive behind those changes is for more people to buy the PoG’s passes. However, both F2P and P2W players will benefit from those changes and if more people buy the pass, it means that they see it as a better value than before. To me it’s a win-win situation and we need to keep in mind that Zynga is a company and has costs and employees to afford to run the game. They are pretty greedy at times but in this instance, even if the ulterior motive is money, they are doing a sane change, for once.
I am lucky, my main raiding team does this easily: cYunan (first costume), c2Magni (second costume), Heimdall, Iris, Melendor(Average+Epic+Druid) or cMelendor(Average+Epic+third costume).
You don’t need two Average heroes in your team, it is enough to fire one such hero twice.
A bit harder when you need a Rare hero in your team, Nordri in place of Magni or Iris has hard time to survive.
