I have no heroes that produce minions 
But I’ve heard the animations are time consuming.
Yes, all minions take time to perform their attack which delays the next turn slightly.

Enough to avoid druiding up on titan heroes?
I avoid taking minion generating heroes myself. Feel free to try it out.
The pros probably outweigh the cons for Mel.

They work as a shield and delay only a tiny bit.
A good titan hero is good even in druid class, go on.
