Did I switch to 4* heroes to soon?

Hey guys,

at the moment I really like the progress I’m making in this game.
Yesterday I finished Season 1, in season 2 I’m currently on 13-4. I’m level 27, TH 18, TC 15.
I’ve to not the best heroes, but some good ones are already in my roster and my actual defense and attack team consists of decent 4*+ heroes.

But at the moment I’m wondering if I should focus on 1-2 3* rainbow-teams before levelling my 4* heroes any further.

I’m lately in a really nice alliance, where I’m the lowest player, so I really start getting ascension materials. We kill 10-11* titans and the loot is great. Problem is: The most Titans one-hit most of my 4* heroes, so there would be really no use for 3* heroes for this case. The only thing would be for war and for quests.

I have the ascension materials for:

1x 4* Red
1x 4* Yellow (planned for Hu Tao, but will be upgraded after Guardians and Springvale, if I don’t get better options)
1x 4* Green (reserved for Caedmon)
1x 4* Blue
1x 3 Trap Tools… waiting for the last and can’ decide between Proteus and Rigard, both are solid options.

I’ve got no damascus blades, two tomes of tactic and thee darts. The rest is not worth mentioning.

I was wondering, if I should max some of the good 3* heroes first before upgrading Caedmon, Hu Tao and save the ascension materials some time longer. Some of the 3* heroes I would like to upgrade are Valen, Brienne, Gill-Ra, Belith, Kailani

Here are some pictures of my roster.
Would you work on Caedmon, Hu Tao, Cyprian? Or focus on the low-level heroes first?

I would focus on a good 4* team and level 3* when no 4* is available in a given colour (feed same colour, leveling 5× heroes at once is the fastest way to get a decent bench) I would egnore 5* until you have at least 1 preferably 2 good teams of 4*.

Thank you for your advice.

Ignoring 5* is pretty easy for me, due having only Horghall… who I’m unsure of upgrading even if I had the materials…

Once you already ascended Cyprian to a final level, why not finish his maxing?
Caedmon is a useful hero worth having maxed. I’m not sure about Hu Tao though. Even with the latest improvement he has slow mana and his attack is still lower than that of Chao.

As @DBC said, after maxing 4* that have required materials you can switch to 3* until you get more materials for other 4*.

I think you did fine. Usual advice is to build at least one team of 3 star heroes, which you already have (and some more too).

I agree that you should just focus on your 4 star heroes. Only switch gears if you run out of ascension materials and said heroes get stuck, or if you run out of heroes to level.

Regarding Horghall, I’d wait for him too, until you at least have the 6 needed tonics. Sturdy shields come occassionally, but tonics come very rarely. He’s not bad though… emblems make him a lot sturdier as long as you focus on Def > Atk > HP (since the latter is already really high). But this won’t really be relevant until endgame anyways so I agree it’s best to wait to get some of your 4 stars to a solid level first.

I love my Cyprian (used him for 2 years, now maxing a second for war). Proteus is awesome and Rigard is a great healer. Balthazar is a great 3* purple!

I’m sorry you don’t have a WuKong for yellow. I’ve never maxed my HuTao, opting instead for Chao (I’ll let you know how that works out when I finally max him!)

I like Caedmon for 4* green. When you are bored, definitely level Brienne 3*. (Valen and Gunnar are nice 3* blue when you don’t have a 4* blue to work on.)

You just need a new red 4*…maybe Boldtusk?

Thank you, too!

I really like Cyprian, too. Was little grumpy to get him as my first 4* hero, after I read about him in this forum, but I’m quite happy with his performance. Now he is on the last stage and still is fine. I would not have given him the trap tools, if I got Rigard or Proteus sooner, though.

And I’m still not sure which hero would deserve the next trap tools because both are top-tier imho. Thats a really hard call. Rigard is imho more useful in every situation AND is my only 4 healer. If I had Merlin, Sabina or someone like that, I would go straight to Proteus. Without them I think I go Rigard first. Proteus helped me at mount doom, but he wasn’t maxed there…

Yellow: I like my Hu Tao. If have levelled everything else and still have no other yellow 4*, he will get my orbs. Of course Wu would be better, Wu is one of my most-wanted heroes.

Caedmon will be maxed the next, got all materials for him. If I have 6 Potions and still no other green 5* hero, Horghall will be the one. I’m f2p except VIP so it could last ages before I get another green one. Will get one shortly after giving potions to Horghall though… i swear!

And of course: I need a red 4*+ hero as soon as possible. Boldtusk was my hero of choice for a long time… With Rigard as “full” healer I really would like to have Wilbur before. But any 4* would be a great addition. Maybe I get Anzogh… I’m really in love with him even though I know, he is not Top Tier. But would boost my roster greatly!

@Rook Chao is a great hero when maxed! Love his mana control, fire him when your opponents are ready…

Sounds like you’ve got it figured out for the most part for now. I gotta say, I’m not a Hu Tao fan either so unless you end up with 12 or even 16 orbs, I’d leave him at 3/60. Other than that, like everyone else said, work on the 4s til you can’t and then drop back and work on your 3s.
The biggest question is Proteus or Rigard 1st. I unfortunately don’t have Proteus yet but considering you can still take advantage of his mana control at 3/60, I’m leaning towards saying Rigard 1st just because he can’t really help you much if dies too fast. Plus you do need a 4* healer. Just my opinion though, others with Proteus may disagree. Tough call.

Between Proteus and Rigard, the trap tools will go to Rigard, if I am at your level. He can be used in any aspect of the game, cleansing status ailments of your heroes and ensuring a little more longevity of the heroes due to his heal. Proteus is almost useless without a healer in tow since he has low health and defense and usually dies pretty early without even activating his skill. Rigard is a bit beefier than him and has a high chance of casting his skill and healing your Proteus even if the latter is at 3/60. I have one maxed Rigard and two Proteuses ascended to the 4th tier. I have 2 untouched Rigards.

I have both Proteus and Rigard. I’d level Rigard first, with Proteus hot on his heels (unless I drew, say, a Sartana…)

Agree with @Rook as great as proteus is, rigard will be with you for a very long time.

Reviewing your roster and mats, I would not lvl any 5* until you have 7-10 maxed or tier 4 4*.

Mainly because it takes roughly 3x the feeder heroes on top of the additional mats.

Some rare heroes like Balthazar, Tyrum, Gill Ra, Brienne, Berden, Mnessus, Belith, Hisan, Valen, Ulmer, Gato, Gunnar, Melia, Bane, Kailani, Hawkmoon, Namahage, Nashgar, Rudolph or the red Rabbit are really good heroes.
I still use them for events and never regret keep them.

But an epic heroes, even if not in his last ascension is still stronger.
It’s never too soon for work on them.
