Criteria for choosing from the Fated Summon

Hey, folks:

I’m only two summonses away from my third Fated Summon, and am having a hard time picking one.

The last time, it was easy: I needed a green healer so I grabbed Heimdall.

This time around, I have no specific need, so it’s quite a bit tougher. I’ve looked at everyone on offer (does it change at the first of the month?) and have selected three I’d like to have eventually. Here they are, along with my reasons:

  • Anzogh suuure looks tasty! (Well, not looks-wise, but ability-wise), and I only have one five⭐️ red. Then again, the one I have plays on most of my teams. Having two useful ones I’ll wanna place on most of my teams seems like it’s not the best idea.

  • I’ve spotted the Norns on many of the teams at the tops of leaderboards, so they would seem an excellent choice! I have six blue five⭐️ heroes already, though, so this also may not be a great choice.

  • I only have one purple five⭐️ (well, I have two, actually, but I don’t count Boss Wolf because he doesn’t have much to offer and I can’t imagine ever doing anything with him unless it’s as a pawn in a Soul Exchange one day). Sargasso looks as if he’s mean enough to enemies that I might like to have him on my team. I currently only have Turdruk and while I love him, it’s not really for reasons of gameplay.

  • I have seven five⭐️ yellows, so I’m thinking I’ll avoid that one, and five greens, too and don’t feel there’s a compelling one anyway.

Given what I’ve said, what would you do, bearing in mind that I haven’t really any specific needs? I have three 5⭐️ duplicates I’m saving for the Soul Exchange, so I spose if I’m unhappy with what I get, I could add the new one to the pile. I’d be grateful for some advice!

If it changes on the first, I’ll have a brand new headache, I spose, but I’m hoping the advice will apply whether it’s summons or a new one.

Love your posts. Well formatted, fun to read and enticing to respond to. The FS changes every 6 months or so so you have time (there’s a counter at the bottom of the screen).

In terms of your needs - my two pence:

:red_circle: The Reds

Red Hood

Pretty outdated statswise, her minions are quite vulnerable and her hit is slightly more stinging than an insult to your cooking. But she’s got cool art, the mana protection buff is useful and paired with another minion summoner she could be a good support hero. (I took her first because I’ve always liked her).

Baldur

I’ve generally found him a bit of a PITA to face, especially in rush. He’s anither good supporting character who can sit there and slowly whittle down your team if you’re not careful (or if you are, on attack). Again, the mana protection is useful, especially against Waterpipe, Bera/Freya dying etc.

Anzogh

A hitter/healer is super useful. Stats are a bit outdated, but that’s why we have aethers. Nice passive and a medium hit.

:purple_circle: The Purples

Khiona

Her attack buff (rage) is pretty neat. If you’ve got some decent hitters it’ll amp their damage up very nicely. Otherwise nothing to write home about.

Sargasso.

I want to like him. His recent buff might have made him more worthwhile. His heal block is a super useful trait to possess in your roster. But he, too, is a bit outdated.

Salmon

The butt of many a joke, but if you’re playing for fun you can’t beat him. And he can do some surprisingly good damage.

:exclamation: Notable others

Norns

Better with costume, but super useful on attacks against a tank you lack power against. And also has a place on Mythic Titan teams.

Frida

Elemental defence down (EDD) is worth its weight in gold. Frida is one of 5 (Her, King Arthur, Cinnamon, cPerseus and Nordri) to have EDD in blue. It stacks with normal defence down. Debuffers are increasingly useful.

Fenrir

His bark is worse than his bite, but still useful against minions and as a finishing sniper, anecdotally.

Rumple

I love my Rumple. I’m desperate for the costume so I can justify giving him emblems again. He’s not for those who dislike not knowing what they’re getting, but as a support hero he’s blooming amazing. No bad roll, and his animation is wonderful.

Frigg

Used to be highly desired, and useful if you don’t have a green defence down, but board dependent heroes can be a bit hit/miss.

I haven’t focused on greens or yellows as you say you have enough and there’s no real game changer in there.

Good luck with your choice. I’d say pick the one that either adds a skill you don’t have, or that you think you’ll have fun with!

Just pointing out that you’ll eventually come to a point where the heros that show up in the Fated Summons aren’t all that exciting. Sometimes they sneak one in that fits your roster, but more and more it’s going to be a disappointment. At that point you should start saving up for the Soul Exchange and then you can pick whatever hero you like the picture of. Eventually even the Soul Exchange will dry up.

One of 5 actually. Cinnamon from the pets event and cPerseus have it too.

Personally, I think Frida and Anzogh are the top 2 picks in that order. After that I lean Frigg. The rest seem much more situational and are largely let down by their stats.

Good point. I’ll edit the original post for others.

That’s my read as well. I took Frida, will take Anzogh, and then have to decide if it’s worth taking another, as I have Frigg.

Here are my thoughts on the matter

The short version: My top 3 picks are blue, green and yellow, if you want to exclude green and yellow it leaves the blue one (Frida)
