In my case, I think this is one of the best match 3 RPG games until you reach Stronghold 13.
So I still get happy about helping new forum users ( see notes ).
If I recall correctly, in the past @Rigs has gone above and beyond to help new forum users, and discouraged forum users, find an alliance they can call home. That is a lot of heart.
I think that contributes to my anger over new 5* hero content always winning over Quality of life improvements for all players ( see notes )

I write on the forums because someone answered my questions. I write on the forums because I made some bad decisions, and peer review showed me the way to correct them. If I cannot teach you something on the forums, how can we discuss it? I write on the forums because I might think I know what I am doing, but writing them out, and civilly discussing them, can help show I am moving in the right direction, a dead end, or a wonderful unexpected discover.

What I find both funny and disheartening (but kinda optimistic about) is that many of the QoL requests for EP have been integrated into their newer game Puzzles Combat… Examples include:
Additional control over alliance Banner look
Cheaper Gem Deal (essentially same price as the 10k gem package but broken down to 100 gem packets)
Online and offline indicators
Overhauled quests to include:
Find troops
Loot tickets
Experience
Player vs. unending wave of mobs
Better graphics
Roster control
When levelling up, unlocked heroes automatically are at the top (ignores teams & favourites heroes)
Match 4 square dynamic to the puzzle
Hard mode to Season 1 (includes colour restrictions)
Stated % for “extra damage against”
Display effect of troops on a team lineup & stats
Better roster management
There are more but that’s just what I got off the top of my head.
I’m optimistic because the code is done so SHOULD be able to implement in EP too… Right…?

This is a strange love letter to the friends I have found on this forum.
Any list would miss people I have forgotten.
Or have left.
But If you ever smiled after reading something I wrote.
If you ever civilly disagreed with me.
If you ever helped a new forum user learn about the how, or why, of a game mechanic.
If you ever loved the forum as much as I did.
You are a friend.
Even if I am long gone from this forum by the time you first read some of my writing.

But I am reminded of a quote:
“the opposite of hatred is not love, its apathy or indifference.”
I will never be indifferent to Empires.
But that does not mean the love, and the hate, will keep me from drifting away from it.
Like the fun slowly draining away under the longer, and longer, grind and the higher, and higher, costs.
Not indifference.
But not enough reason to stay.
