Challenge Event troop question – what happens if you don’t have any 2* troops for Rare?

If you no longer have a two star or lower troop of a color, then you don’t have a troop for that event? Rare level of course

No it will default a one star for ya.

To further clarify this, I think it actually defaults to a no-bonus 1* troop, like this:
