Battle of the HotMs

These 11 polls are designed to see who you prefer as HotM. The first five polls are the two top heroes from each set that the community designated as favorites/most dangerous (I had to sort of pick options for some of the polls because I got mixed results from the polls).

Here is a LINK to those polls for anyone who is interested, but most of them are already closed.

I’m kinda surprised by some of the poll leaders at the moment.

Alby is winning the battle vs Hel in a landslide when they are, in my opinion, equal in uniqueness and versatility. I chose Alby because he is better on defense from my experience, better in raid tournaments (especially the vFast ones) and had to be nerfed because his special was out of control when he was first released.

Zeline vs Delilah I can understand. I actually chose Zeline too because she is an all around great hero capable of being placed anywhere in any situations.

Gravemaker vs Drake is baffling to me too. I understand that GM has the best burn damage for his mana speed, but I feel like you can play around the burn because it doesn’t hinder your heroes. Say you have a cleanser on your team like Kunchen or Zimkitha and they are one of the ones that got hit by Drake, their other secondary effects have a chance to miss when they are able to fire and that could mean the difference between winning and losing, especially when Kunchen misses 4/5 heroes with his def down. Because of this, I chose Drake over Gravemaker as the most versatile and problematic hero between the two.

This was a tough one for me to choose, but I chose Zimkitha over Evelyn because Zim is the only fast 5* cleanser and is a direct counter/antidote for Zeline. What Evelyn does is nice, but it isn’t that unique and her direct damage isn’t that great.

Kunchen vs Frida… This one was much easier for me to choose. I feel like Kunchen is the best and only true purple tank that cleanses all and gives all the opposition a neg def down. Frida is great, and in my opinion better and more well rounded than her sisters (Evelyn and G. Panther) because she is more well rounded with her stats, damage output and class, but she doesn’t hold a candle to Kunchen and his versatility.

Seshat vs Miki was easy for me to choose because I have both Ranvir and Tarlak and I know how restricted the titan specialist can be in comparison to snipers like Seshat. Seshat does it for me with her dispel and her minion replication ability and, oh yeah, SHE’S THE ONLY TRUE GUIN COUNTER! Do I need to elaborate further?

Going to the best of each color, I’m not sure how Hel is in front of Seshat? The utiliy of one far supersedes that of the other. Seshat is, in my opinion far more useful/versatile. If Hel goes off, is it a problem? Yes, but it isn’t the end of the world if you have a cleanser. Seshat is faster, can one-shot a hero at 3/4 HP due to her class, can/will dispel any buffs you have on your heroes and summons minions that add extra protection to her. I know I sound biased here, but given the option between the two, I feel Seshat is the superior purple.

Athena vs Frida. For me, this one is tougher, but I gave my vote to Frida because she does and is capable of much more. Is Athena’s def down the best in the game? Absolutely, no question/debate there, but what else does she do? When Frida hits three she takes away anything you had already established. Her spirit link makes Zeline and other green heroes damage minuscule. Her innate ability to resist attack debuffs is just icing on the cake, add to that the fact that Frida is also a paladin and capable being a tank, she outshines Athena greatly in my eyes.

Anzogh and Natalya are kind of unique in their own way. Both are utility heroes, but Anzogh can be utilized as a healer too as well as a tank or flank. Natalya’s main purpose was to mess with Alby, which she does quite well, but that’s pretty much it. Anzogh is the clear winner here for me.

I chose delilah because she is my favorite between these two and has the better class, but looking back at it now, I believe I may have chosen incorrectly. Onatel is usually the bigger headache for me in most aspects of the game, so I believe she should be the winner here.

This one really, really surprised me. Zeline is the only celestial that is losing, granted marginally, but still losing. I find her far more devastating to face in every aspect of the game with her dispel and attack debuff to all can really screw me over. If you don’t have a cleanser on your team, then she will most likely be the cause of your loss if you can’t take her out early enough. Kingston is dangerous too, but not to the extent that Zeline is, in my opinion. Add to the fact that Kingston is a fighter compared to Zeline’s wizard class and that only detracts from his appeal because that talent is arguably best suited for healers because you want them to die fully charge just to be brought back to fire. A sniper with the fighter class can be useful, but not nearly as useful, nor devastating if their skill pops off once they come back. For these reasons, I give my vote to Zeline, possibly the best wizard and dispeller in the game.

Tell me what you think about your choices and the way these polls appear to be shaping up.

Can we answer if we don’t have them, or would you rather we didn’t?

Alby was nerfed? Sweet world, what was he like before?!

Of course, even if you don’t have them you can speak about your experiences with them.

the amount of mana he gave to each hero was toned down considerably. Here is a LINK that talks about it. @Kitten The mana each hero received over the individual turns was collectively reduced by 20%.

I agree, but we all remember being robbed by Alby.

If Hel is part of victory it’s ‘fair’, but if Alby turns it at the last minute, it lingers in the memory as an injustice

Similarly, I agree to an extent but GM punishes weak starts and can go off three times. Similar to Alby, this ‘unfair’ advantage sticks in the memory.

I disagree the most strongly here. I find Frida inconsequential on defence, partly due to mana speed. Eve’s dispell is a huge win too.

I have the 2nd Rate versions - Domitia and Proteus! So while Dom is more versatile in raids and map stages, Proteus beats challenge and event bosses.

Yes, surprised me too. Zeline going off is a massive pain, especially when you’ve just got a special or tiles lined up for a kill and suddenly they no longer suffice.

Is Kingston just getting a novelty bounce in the vote?

Great poll again, artist formerly known as Stacey
