Excuse me if I could find this in an existing thread or guide and am just missing it. My question is; What is the basic crit chance for a hero ( obviously ignoring crit troops)?Does it very per hero or the same? Does anyone have any info on that?

I believe it’s zero.
Without crit troops or a buff, you’ll never get a critical hit.

Pretty sure it’s a static number which is the same for every hero.
Not sure what that static number is but I’d estimate somewhere around 10%
The total damage done by a crit has been worked out to be about 250%

Pretty sure you can. My mana trooped heroes get Critivql hits… At least I think they do…

Yeah I’ll double check. My farming team is rainbow with only mana troops.
So, if I read this post from Kerridoc correctly, he refers to Marjana in a situation where she’s neither buffed nor has crit troops and says she has zero chance of a critical hit.
@Texas1970, if you read the thread this quote comes from, it discusses quite a lot of detail.

Thanks read that whole thread. That’s crazy and not how I thought it worked. I always assumed there was a “natural” 8-10 % crit chance and then You decided if you want crit troops to add to that. I guess the misconception comes from the variances of damage one does sometimes.

Update!!!
I used this farming team:
With these troops:
And got a critical hit:
Critical boost came in via the family bonus.
Replaced jabber with Balthazar and farmed a couple more times and got no critical hits. So my initial assumption seems to be wrong and that critical chance can only be introduced via a buff/bonus

I’m with @Guvnor on this. I swear I’ve seen Crits with mana troops and no crit buff available? Although I’m old and prone to hallucinations, so probably not the best one to disagree with @JonahTheBard.

I hear you!! Makes me think about crit troops with 10% crit or is it worth the attack from mana troops… tough decision made easier if you can do math. Maybe we all learnt something today ( atleast some of us)

Well, if Melia gives a crit-boost +34%, I think that base crit percentage is not supposed to be 0, otherwise a full team of 3* in Rare tier during Events would never crit with 2* troops. But they do, for sure.

Maybe just double check rather than relying on memory. I did that and had to backtrack.
With Melia they do, I’ve tested last tournament cause I’m wondering if last node of Jackal (+4% crit) is worth or not, considering we all use him wilth mana troop lev. 11.
But 0 +34% would still be 0, so I think base crit simply has a very low percentage.
Well… 0% + 34% = 34% right?
Other 3* heroes may have family bonuses and the like that allow them to do crit damage.
