Decisions
Okay.
But I think you made a decision. A decision was made to spend your energy in Season 2.
My Decisions
I stopped spending loot tickets and flasks once BarryWuzHere started showing that Atlantis loot was roughly on par with Season 1 and inferior for player XP and Hero XP
Linky, linky.
Hoard or not to hoard
Kerridoc is a big advocate of spend your ascension items now. While I prefer to wait for 1* to 5* heroes that will improve my roster.
So I lose some advantage now, for a much bigger advantage later. Part of this is the diminishing returns aspect of MMOs and part is my luck pulling some awesome 4* heroes and learning about color stacking and board RNG early.
Unexpected
Before classes and Atlantis came out, I had 2 Trap tools for every 1 Hidden Blade ( my next biggest 3* ascension items).
I held on to them except for Rigard.
I could never in a million years have predicted Class quests.
When Atlantis and classes were added, I was able to ascend Proteus, Tiburtus, Sabina, and Ameonna to 4* 4.1 because I had not spent my 3* ascension items on the purple 5* heroes I was stuck with ( that is another rant ).
Future
Until Empires ends, the Devs will always add new mechanics and heroes. The trick is to balance the advantage of spending now, with the possibility nonexistent reward of profitability later. And RNG may prevent me anyways ( looking at you Delilah, Ariel and Mother North).
Thanks to the new content creators Pois1 and Mariamne and mod Garanwyn , I know what is out there now and how to capitalize on what I DO HAVE. So I can make reasonable decisions about the near future.
But one day I hope to have two 5* average mana speed healers, one to two Splash damage average mana speed 5* heroes, one to two attack all enemies fast mana speed 5* heroes and two sniper fast mana speed 5* heroes for two rainbow 5* hero teams with good synergy.

“Diminishing returns have been with the MMORPG since the early days. One example that most players will be familiar with is the fact that the higher your statistics climb the less significant they are to your character’s power. Levels also tend to offer a diminished return when players reach the other side of the curve. The difference between level 10 and 20 is often far more significant than say the difference between 35 and 45. At a certain point your character will not learn new abilities that define new roles but, instead, will receive new versions of the abilities you already have.”
