I‘m on 0 mats for wars. Participated in every single one and won more than 50%…
That is ridiculous. What are the odds of that.
I started to follow up the loot only in july. I’ll make the same this month.
If you don’t include the purchased materials, I averaged about 1.3 unfarmable mat a day for the month of July. 
The odds for normal quests got ridicolouse 
They definitely nerved them 
I believe that the odds of the normal chests have not changed, they have always been around 3%
But before people did not give much importance because other things (vision, elementary chest, titans) gave better prizes
I am quite sure that when I start over one year ago the materials from normal chests were much better. Unfortunately at that time I did not take any pictures

So I was at 1.29 AM’s/ day on July. So discouraged by the elemental chests that I have already slowed down my gem usage for chest timers.

Thank you for your contribution. I might also track other notables because of your example.
If you are not interested in the exact source of non farmable ascension materials but only in the average gain, there is an easier way than keeping track of anything you collect as you collect it.
Requirements for this to work:
- you don’t use 4A 4* and 3A or 4A 5* heroes as feeders.
- you keep track only of materials you buy if you want to distinguish between f2p and bought mats.
The ratio is that any material you use to ascend your heroes remains in the ascended heroes, e.g. I have A4-70 Rigard, so I know I spent 4 trap tools, 1 glove and 1 compass on him as long as I don’t feed him to some other hero (Req.1).
So, if you just count your ascended 4* and 5* you know what you spent on them so far:
A4 4*: 4 color specific 3* mats, 1 glove, 1 compass
A3 5*: 4 color specific 3* mats, 1 glove, 1 compass
A4 5*: 8 color specific 3* mats, 1 glove, 1 compass, 6 color specific 4* mats, 1 tome of tactics, 1 damascus blade
If you just sum the spent mats to those you have in your inventory you know how many materials you got since you started playing. Do that for 2 distinct moments in time (let’s say 1st of August and 1st of September) and the difference between the 2 will be exactly how many mats you collected during August. From this total you can subtract the number of bought mats if you want to know the mats you gained just by playing (Req.2).
The main advantage in this approach is that one doesn’t need to constantly keep track of everything, so it requires less effort and it is a lot less error prone cause you simply can’t forget keeping note of titan loot or overlook 1 mat in a loot report.
Here is an example of a google spreadsheet where I track my mats (unfortunately I can’t remember when I started playing, so I set 21st of May which should be pretty close):
So it seems I got more or less 26 mats per month in my first 14 months or so, but in the last ten days I got about 1 mat per day, which I think is pretty honest for my gameplay: daily player, ~2 monster chests per day, ~1.5 raid chests per day (diamond league), killing 10* titans, playing AW with ~50% win rate, playing events but rarely in top 100, f2p (only spent a total of about 15 bucks to buy gems for event pulls).

Without including purchased materials I averaged 1.61 mat per day. Killing 11*/12* Titans, typically rank A or B.
Considering how little I need Orbs, I sure did get a lot of them (13).

My stats for August (none of them were purchased). I typically get loot tier IX on titans and am platinum rank for raids. I average 1 raid chest and 2 monster chests per day. All in all an average of 1.39 mats (tokens and flasks excluded) per day.
I got pissed with the dry spell so stopped tracking.
Haven’t tracked September but I don’t need to yet. Got 1 compass from a Rare 11* and warm cape yesterday from mystic vision. 10.5 days into the month and I found 2 AM’s which are both 3*.
