An idea to stop power creep and keep profits to SGG

There is a mythical card game that is already 30 years old and that many of you will know, which has several game formats to maintain the volume of income. From that game, I get the following idea to curb the madness of limit breakers, infinite outfits and power creep in general.

Whether in wars, events or tournaments, distinguish between a “VINTAGE” format where all the heroes in the game can be used and a “STANDARD” format where only the heroes of the last 2 years and the heroes of the first season can be used . That is to say, that every time there is a war, tournament or event, it is announced if it will be “vintage” or “standard”.

All this means that it is not necessary to increase the power of the heroes constantly and at the same time ensures SGG that the most competitive ones continue to spend.

For the FTPs, you give them the pleasure of being competitive in the “Vintage” format and for the whales, you give them the pleasure of being competitive in both formats.

Obviously, now there is a big difference between old heroes and new heroes, and in the “vintage” format few old heroes would be seen but it is precisely trying to stop the power creep and that this is not the case.

As I have already said, this is not inventing anything new, there are already games that work like this and enjoy much more health and less discomfort among their players than what is perceived in this forum with the news that SGG is introducing.

Not sure how long you have been playing this game but this game no longer belongs to SGG. SGG sold out to Zynga and the final 6.7% transferred in early 2022, rendering this game wholly owned by Zynga.

Zynga in turn sold out to TT, and the sale was completed at end May 2022.

This game still operates under the brand name: Zynga, and as part of Zynga’s stable of mobile games. This game is also currently Zynga’s top grossing mobile game.

Zynga’s business focus is always money first. Their MO is pretty standard: buy out rising highly profitable games, milk that game to fund more profitable acquisitions (as part of recoup investment cost) and then shutter that game once earning potential is more or less gone.

There is a rumour that Sony may buy out TT if MS succeeds in buying out Activision. It’s a never ending circle of acquisition and then milking gaming base for growth.

Based on the latest developments: Web Store, traffic redirection from IAP to WS SO (via better special offers in WS), the continuing power rush and now 2LB, Zynga is more likely to push for more revenue and fast, to boost TT valuation.

Doubt your idea will gain traction. It’s a good idea though and will engender game longevity.
