More Insights & Reading
I highly recommend reading these three threads for more information and context on summoning odds:
If you’ve read them a million times before, you may consider reading them again before deciding on your budget for summoning. A little time spent deciding on how much money you want to risk on summoning goes a long way to avoiding disappointment, frustration, and regret later.
Wondering About Your Personal Situation?

If you’d like more extensive advice on sorting out your particular roster, I recommend creating a new thread in Gameplay Help & Tactics, and posting screenshots of your hero roster, along with your questions.
I assume the “3 minions at 10% each” is meant for synergy with the new Mr Pengi costume but its just such a niche use (especially given the Slow speed). Having lots of bad minions is just a liability since it blocks you from you summoning others. One minion at 30% would be better in most cases, and might even have made this viable as a second-rate Cao-Cao replacement in a minion team next to Diochan or whatever (even without the unstoppable minion passives)
But no, it just seems like another mediocre seasonal hero. I suppose its better than most HOTMs and the high stats+paladin class means that it might be a good tank for newer players that dont have anything better. 260% to all and 30% HP is decent I guess.
Don’t like slow speed, but buff reset is handy and that damage is nasty. Ideal flank to Ludwa. Make Fungustine the other flank and the only thing that can stop that team barring overwhelming damage is buff blocker.
Thanks @Sternman for your opinion. I agree that he is not so much on defense team. I also agree that pairing him with strong-minion summoner is not a good idea,
so we need to use him on attack team and no other summoner (except winter family), so his 20% (or 24% with other member) HP will be most benefit.
In my own attack team, however, lately I have great experience using/facing many strong hard-hitter slow heroes (e.g. Starlass, Chester, Toon-Isarnia, etc.), and from this experience, Albin perhaps even hit harder with his (current) best stat
– but he needs to be paired well.
He can paired very well with on-color strong attack-booster like e.g. G.Gazelle (free in FS, and we will get his costume for 300gems soon) where G.Gazelle will charge first, and then Albin charge later with dance-buffed-550% AoE, and reset G.Gazelle buff for 4 more turns, for example.
In conclusion, with highest AoE hit, very rare buff-reset and good support-healer, I think he is more than a plain hitter
I will say that I disliked him from Beta since I focused on what he does poorly and carried that until after release as well.
The damage was improved from Rubbish to Excellent and the minions were dropped by one (I do not know if that is an improvement or a detriment TBH) which makes for some flexibility for pairings.
G Gazelle is a hero I love and your synergy is perfect, thank you for the reminder!
I love Starlass and she is the type of hero I LOVE even at Slow mana (three turns for her ailment feels too short when you are attacking and far too long if she hit you from the defense).
I have some pure damage dealers that I love and live with the knowledge that they will become obsolete more quickly than other heroes with valuable ailments and/or buffs. Albin is possibly better than I feel and the G Gazelle synergy is an excellent point you raised.
Thanks again @Sternman, seeing his beta which is quite disappointed, now I understand your point of view perfectly .
I have been at FS 100/100 for 2 months already (choosing already G.Gazelle and Krampus), and with quite a long queue, I at first intended to wait for the next FS list. But now I am hesitate to try on winter portal whether for C.Pengi or Albin (but not sure if I will be that lucky).
Probably I will wait to see December balance update and the final outfitter event before making a final decision
I knew that C Pengi was coming and was fortunate to get Alucard’s costume very quickly in Halloween so I did not need to use many tokens. I summoned both Albin and Ottilia while trying for Pengi’s costume.
I have the luxury of a couple of top tier holy heroes waiting in line for mats so was not forced to think about Albin as deeply as you did.
This portal has some decent options, would have loved the MN costume but no dice. Ginger would be a good one, Tinsel as well so there are some decent consolations. Albin won’t sour your mood like a 10th S1 hero will.
(I summoned Cookie too, I had forgotten the hero existed, I may well forget again soon).
The dilemma is always, “Do I continue summoning”? when getting one of the heroes you hoped for prior to exhausting the stash of tokens.
I dont have many yellows (only Cleopatra and Wu Kong) and my only yelloe legendary troop is a Paladin so im probably going to level him. Will pair him up with gazelle when the costume comes, its probably okay for a tertiary attack team or something
