Activity Gems

I’m suggesting something really simple. Provide enough gems though world battles, Titan attacks, and raids to give players 1 epic roll per week.

Give a guaranteed small amount of gems per activity listed above up to a daily limit of 45. I would suggest that each activity provide 2 gems until the limit is reached and no activity gems after. To me, this is better than a daily gem gift because it rewards playing the game and is earned by players. The more you do each day, the more free epic rolls possible per year (54.6 max).

Idea Update per discussion:
Now, I recognize my concern as a new player is very different than the concerns of a late game player. This idea could be scaled across arena leagues. Higher leagues could increase the daily limit and gem reward per raid.

  • Bronze : 45 Daily limit, 2 per Raid, Battle, Titan
  • Silver : 60 Daily limit, 3 per Raid, 2 per Battle, Titan
  • Gold : 75 Daily limit, 4 per Raid, 2 per rest
  • Platinum : 90 Daily limit, 5 per Raid, 2 per rest
  • Diamond : 105 Daily limit, 6 per Raid, 2 per rest

So under this, Diamond would be 38,220/yr, 3185/mo, 735/wk on avg. This comes to 127 epic rolls per year in comparison. Which is likely 120 3-star heroes.

The daily totals and reward can be adjusted to be more appropriate for each arena, but that shows scalability and flexibility to make adjustments later.

Reason
I’m a newer player, but I’ve also spent a bit ($20 in 2 weeks) of money on the game and have been highly discouraged by the result. I don’t mind spending money on gems for rolls if I’m also receiving enough gems though gameplay for some rolls. Because I purchased gems in the start, I’m unsure of how many I’ve earned vs purchased, but i think I’ve received enough gems to roll 1-2 epics in 2 weeks if I didn’t spend any gems on other game features. While an extra 45 per week doesn’t seem like much; i think it would give more freedom to do different things in the game without being discouraging or dissuading gem purchases.

Right now the gem purchase results have been so bad that I can’t bring myself to buy more without some sign rolls do occasionally give good things. This is one of those things I need to experience myself in order to be comfortable with. I’ve heard of the luck of others, but it’s not enough for me to justify spending right now. More opportunity to earn additional rolls with effort would allow me to encounter higher quality 3* and possibly higher. This would likely happen enough to show me spending isn’t just dumping money into a game I’ll eventually quit out of frustration.

@madmarv, I’d be curious for your input on this, and how it contrasts based on your observations about gem acquisition pace you made here:

It seems like 300/week for an Epic Summons would be 1300/month on average*, so about a 30% increase from the current drop rate, it seems?

*300x52 weeks = 15,600/year = 1,300 per month, on average

The gem drop rate would need to be significantly higher. My 1000 gems collected / month is due to accelerating chests, which cost gems. I’m running a net gem expense per month due to all of the skipping. If I were trying to harvest gems instead of asc mats I’m guessing I would be collecting in the neighborhood of 500 - 600 / month because I would have to abandon chest skipping entirely.

My suggestion would be to make a quest or improve the loot of an existing quest to guarantee an Epic Hero token or 100 Atlantis coins per week for VIPs. Trying to shake up the gem economy is more trouble than it’s worth.

Thanks, that’s a helpful insight, particularly the observation that speeding chests increases gem acquisition — but at a net loss. I know you’d noted in that same post I quoted that you were spending around 150 gems more per month than you were acquiring from chests/loot.

I agree, increasing token drop rate would be simpler than futzing with gem drop rates, particularly if the intention is increased Epic Summons.

Interesting discussion.

Epic Rolls was a primary concern of mine as a new player, but it isn’t my only concern. In the OP i mention it gives us the option to use gems for other things, which currently doesn’t seem possible. Every time I use gems now I feel like I’m digging a hole that I’ll never get out of in order to do an epic roll with gems.

Additionally, this would provide a small amount of gems to accumulate with certainty rather than on reaching a mission milestone or random item from chests/ad video. The gems would give some additional ammunition, for lack of a better term, that could be combined with purchased gems to buy some of the higher gem deals.

While I agree handing out more tokens is certainly easier, this feature would provide the ability for adjustments and careful monitoring of the effect. It would be very difficult to determine and calculate the impact of simply offering more guaranteed epic tokens in occasional quests as rewards. You’d see an increase in epic rolls, but how would you determine how that impacted game play across tiers of players?

Also, I dont think it’s unfair as player to think we should be able to occasionally spend gems on other things, like rushing chests or rushing buildings without it crippling the effort of the main thing we are working for. The occasional guaranteed epic token would help, but I’m not sure it’s enough.
