4 years of playing as 100% FTP

Yep. I’m doing HA2 for the best troop xp per hour and HA10 for the eventually something useful. Been running it since November and still no luck though.

This is what I am currently running. So far HA10 has dropped two non-S1 uniques in 13 tries. But then I am missing so many non-S1 5’s that pretty much any one is unique . Dreading the drought that I will be facing after these results, but maybe I’ll finally get Magni to complete my S1 collection. He seems to really hate my TC20.

I have backlogged HA6 to the point I am out of tall boots.

No worries, @SamMe. As I previously said, I don’t consider any of these comments as off-topic. I’m just not sure what exactly Liamallica was saying, I hope they would clarify.

Actually, I’m also not sure why one of @Saros 's posts was flagged.

As a regular in the PS gamechat, I would like to say that instances like these are veryvery rare, of which if such advice is given, other players would usually hop in to say that is wrong, and that troops should be “kept” until you have a 4* mana, and then leveled when they have hams, otherwise sparingly. The focus for f2p, as generally would be advised, is to save gems for certain events, level certain heroes for titans, and to practice with what they have.

That anomalous advice, i daresay, would NEVER be from a regular at PS. Alternatively, it could be taken out of context due to the merc spams that pushes chat.

No fault of either, just would like to ensure players PS is still a good place to get advice, regardless of spending habits. Regulars like @SamMe are also f2p who give adequate advice based on their experiences.

Again, when advices such as this comes in, reglars would always correcct misleading information. Unfortunately PS reglars have mostly retired, and the old regulars who are active are mostly from the same timezone. There has been a flock of “new regular” players in PS who give advice occasionally, but many of these players are those who started in late 2019 or 2020, for which the meta has changed and the type of advice given is very limited to what they understand from the power creep movement.

While I don’t fault anyone for the misinformation if genuinely from good intention, I can assure everyone that the Chatroom regulars (PS AR 20+) would do their best to correct information immediately if they see misinformation.

(Also, @D_DI , Super impressed with your history)

That is just an awesome story. Having fun while ftp is the best thing to do

I was actually referring to the forum, I haven’t really been to the PS chat. For example, once in Beta people were saying that it is fairly easy for FTP/C2P players to get 3* and 4* challenge event heroes and therefore, it would be okay to have a score bonus for using challenge event heroes (in rare and epic). For the record, I only have one 3* challenge event hero - so apparently it’s not that easy…

Really nice work @Harsh07june. My level would be higher if I actually bother farming - I wonder what level I would be at, if I use all these WE flasks

Well said!

Wow! That’s an astounding stash of flasks and iron / food bundles @D_DI ! :star_struck:
Even more of a fan now! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

First of all, if they wanted to make that game only pay to play, they would make you pay on creating an account. They don’t so it’s up to us to decide how to play.

Moreover, f2p is more often a thing of choice rather than lack (or unwillingness) to spend money. For example, I could be a whale and spend a lot of cash on this game. Not a big one, a small one. Without too much stress on my other spendings, mind you. I prefer not being one since if I do it, it feels like buying myself wins rather than earning them with hard work. I will always prefer the latter.

@D_DI s accomplishment is astounding mainly as a pure testament of will and patience. Of course there could be different approaches, but she chose that one and whoever actually thinks it’s an easy thing being f2p and winning in this game should first try it for themselves. My guess is if they try that, most of the current bragging pay to win players will drop out very fast due to frustration of constantly losing even simpler quest battles. We have a saying in my country that goes something like that “Even my Grandma can do it with money”…

That’s not a nice post.

how the heck is playing this game for free freeloading? E&P earns ad revenue from our mystic visions… and as @Saros rightly pointed out, we’re not asked to pay when we create an account. So, we’re, uh, invited by the company to pay without paying.

Equating playing E&P to tipping is a false, meaningless analogy. In the USA, servers need tips for income. In many other parts of the world, that is not true, as their fixed pay is enough to support them.

And I would find it very funny if E&P relied on every single player spending just to break even… but they let people download and play the game for free. um, okay, interesting business model there.

I don’t know why you assume that FTP players do not support the game in any way. I have given the game a 5* rating, I am contributing to their number of active daily players and most importantly, I’ve been watching ads in MV every day for 4 years.

Me watching 3000+ ads has surely provided some income for SG.

And my 5* rating in Google Play is surely more helpful than a frustrated spender’s 1* rating. Because spenders tend to get frustrated more easily than FTP players as they get angry they can’t win, while us FTP players simply have low expectations.

Also, as I’ve mentioned in the OP, most PTW/whales are practically gambling. So should I also be blamed for not going to the casino since there is staff there that would benefit from my tips?

While I make a habit of not engaging with bad faith arguments, thanks for taking on just some of the myriad fallacies in that one short post.

Unfortunately, I’d guess there will be a lot of folks reading posts like that and feeling attacked, and even needing to defend themselves, which lets me know the FTP model is working as intended.

These arguments are par for the course when you literally build shame and guilt into the product.

I will say I got a chuckle out of seeing multiple examples of paid products being used as examples. Irony is not dead.

I get why you don’t make a habit of it - it’s good for one’s mental health, hee  and I get what you mean about building guilt and shame into the product…

It’s amazing, though, how some people try to make F2Ps feel bad because they would cause famine and plague in the lives of people grossing billions.
The lengths people go trying to picture themselves as righteous…

All pretty much covered already, but I believe a large portion of the income related to Mystic Vision would be based more on the daily active log-in number, with an additional payment dependent on number who click on the redirect link. (At least that’s how I would be negotiating the contract)

I read somewhere recently also that Zynga are developing their own ad portal to redirect users to other versions of their branded games etc. Not sure where this stands currently.

Edit: Yep, that’s me getting off topic again. As you were nothing to see here…

It is amazing the ignorance of people (we are all ignorants in one way or another). Do you think that SG is not making money on every player!!?? lol I assure you that they are.
I am wonder if this guys that complain about ftp or ctp consider themselves freeloaders by using this forum, I am sure that the creator and moderators spend a lot of time helping and making it work, are they sending tips/money to them? or when they use a search engine beside the one installed on their system, or go to any website to search information, do they send money to all the creators and content developers? I really doubt it.

The message of this post is of perseverance and hope, if someone does not have the resources to spend thousand of dollars and still want to enjoy a game it is possible and with perseverance you will get there and become competitive not only on 3* but 4* and 5* events as well

All spot on, but I stand with @Saros on this.
I can easily afford to spend a few thousands but I just consider spending to get better a form of cheating.
[Warning: personal opinion above]

When it comes to gachas and lootboxes I also have a very hard time with my ethics promoting those mechanics in any way.

I will have been playing for 4 years as of this coming June and have never spent a dime. My biggest gripe is the lack of 5* heroes coming from my tc 20. I used to average 1 per month, but haven’t seen one in over 8 months. Also, it seems impossible to get any 4* troops.
