Log & Guide to Raid Tournaments
A Log of past Tournaments, and an overview of how Raid Tournaments work, including Special Rules and Restrictions, Attacking, Matchmaking, Defense Grade, Scoring, and Rewards.
The bad streak of the first days (recently, every tournament I was getting one terrible board and losing the fight) was finally ended and I started the tournament with an easy 5:0
The defense has not been tested even once, so I wait in uncertainty about its performance…
4-1 on Day 1. A result I’d take every day of a 5* tournament
Went with a VF attack of Kage - Onyx - Khonshu - cVictor - Willow/Malosi. Malosi came in only when facing Ludwig teams. Boards were ok except for the loss against an Ukkonen tank. He doesn’t do a lot of damage and his HoT doesn’t work, but that attack down debuff spoiled my fast sniper offense. Only managed to kill the flank Gazelle with tiles.
Defense is 1-3 so far. Trying out some new heroes and not expecting much.
So I woke up this morning and thought to myself “Cool, let’s do some tournament raiding”. Then I went on and set up my usual attack teams with 2 healers and 3 hitters. It wasn’t until the second fight that I remembered it’s a bloody battle because I wasn’t getting any HP from my Goldie’s heal. Still managed to win that fight. Currently 3-2.
The board wasn’t good and BK fired up, but Ithar quickly stole his buff (for herself). Unfortunately, Tetisheri killed her after a while. Then I matched some tiles and managed to kill BK, but it was too late to do anything else… Khufu killed me
I will only add that my former queen (Alfrike) has aged very badly… Despite subsequent LB, she has a natural (yellow) enemy in the form of Ithar, who completely controls her. Today I met two and I must admit that apart from the rush, Alfrike has no reason to exist…
I am very happy with the result of 9-1 in the 5* tournament and although I didn’t like Uthragan before, he performed quite well in the bloody battle and after today I decided to give him LB1. My standard attacking team is:
Went 5-0 today against very random teams with mostly purple tanks. People really like their Alfrike it seems. A couple of teams had healers too.
I have mostly settled to an attack team of Constance-Costume Seshat-2C Li Xiu-Rochefort-Jove. Plenty of damage, dodge, dispel, silence and musketeer cover ticks most boxes you need in this tournament. Cleanse and especially fiend immunity/removal would be nice, but I don’t think I have suitable heroes outside of healers for those (apart from Ephyra who I pulled an hour ago). Might need to pull out the duck if I encounter more Khufus like I did on day 1.
Brought in Shrubbear today against a lot of fast, aggressive Red tanks. Worked well in the first 3 matches, even against Gestalt and Tetisheri tanks.
Winning 3 straight made the matchmaker a bit confused and got matched up against a 6150 TP team with Ithar tank. Got Shrubbear charged and survived long enough to kill Ithar and flank Sekhmet. But the Galapagos on the other flank kept surviving with low hp because of druid minions, and the wing Narcisa did me in.
Last match was against a Tenebrae tank with Ultrox wing. Went with a Yellow stack of Willow - cLeo - cGuin - Jana - Shrubbear. Bad board, though I did manage to kill 2 defenders before going down.
Defense is a solid E (2-7) so unsure if I’ll buy back in.
First match against an Aradia tank and very fast zero. That was loss number 4, but bought back in as I was filling a Raid chest and I like Bloody tournaments. Won 3 of the next 4 to stand at 10-5. Faced an Arco tank in one of the matches, and my Red team (El Duque - Ruby - Cardinal - Xiaotu - Khonshu) made its first appearance.
Defense improved briefly for a D (4-9) at the end of Day 2, but now back in E territory (5-13)
Contrary to my expectations, I was not massacred by any more enemies today
Bearing in mind that I probably only managed to survive to the end of a bloody battle without spending diamonds once, the result of 5-0 on the third day (14-1 total) is at least surprising to me
Although I must admit that both the boards and the selection of opponents were good for me today.
I don’t like Bloody Battles because of lack of good heroes, but this one is really lucky for me.
Currently at 19-1, so 75 gems will be saved
And my defense is holding B, that’s one more surprise (I put there some random heroes )
I use my yellow 4+1 team with Caedmon/cCaedmon instead of Rigard. The most powerful opponent so far:
With my mostly 4*, sometimes I feel like David fighting with Goliath, but I like it In this case, I put 2 weakest on 2nd and 4th position and it saved me from Sneferu.
(And yes, I was attacking with yellows here too)
Another 3-2 day. Switched in Ruby as the +1 in my 4 Purple VF stack. Lost the first match against a Xenda tank with a very bad board. None of the Purples charged at all.
Won the next 2 before losing again in the 4th against a Hawthorn tank. Another bad board. Managed to kill Hawthorn and his flanks of Sha Wujing and R&N, but done in by the wing Jove and Queen Guowang.
Defense is hanging on to D (7-13). Hopefully can stay in the last day long enough to sneak into top 10% or higher.
Hello all! Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate today. I really didn’t think I would have anything to contribute this week because I expected to go out very early.
I guess the one advantage in not having most of the heroes all of you are discussing is that I don’t find myself facing many of them either!
I threw up what I considered a Hail Mary defense and it’s been performing at a B all week.
As far as attack, I have been using a 3:2 red/green team with three gargoyles, including Arco for minion protection/fiend removal. And the family bonuses. It’s actually been a very fun team to play with! I have no idea how it would perform at the level of opponents you all are facing, but for me, it’s been really effective. The stoneskin has even ensuring battles are lasting long enough for me to have a chance.
Barkley-El Duque-Arco-R&N-Kalo
Though that doesn’t mean I didn’t run into some zero attacks of course. Sifting in the top 5% at 16-4. Spent 75 gems to live another day just for the sheer novelty of being able to make it to day 5
Best of luck to you all!
Some impressive battling happening here. Enjoyed reading up on it this morning.
Today, in my first fight, I lost against this team:
If Khufu shoots before any of my quick ones
or very fast heroes have time to recharge, I think that a comment about the board is unnecessary…
Fortunately, in the next three fights the boards were really good and I managed to win these fights quite easily. Today I remembered about my red heroes and in the attack I used a different team than before: Gestalt, cMarjana, Tahir, Horus, Ithar. Only in the last fight
I took a risk and replaced Horus with Grazul and it turned out to be a great decision. The board was weak and I had a hard time getting two yellow lines to stop the tank from just firing (with Ithar), so I was able to fire up Grazul later to block the burn from Aradia. I think that’s the only reason I was able to win.
Thus, with a score of 18-2, I am waiting for the last day of the tournament…
Other opponents
Finally got a nice run of boards to finish the tournament on a positive 5-0 note.
3 Purple tanks today and leaned heavily on my Yellow team of Matilda - Eloise - Khonshu - Jana - Willow. Almost got knocked out in the penultimate match. Level 90 cHel with that SS damage buff does a lot of damage.
